CONSTRUCTION PHASE
LANE REDUCTION
• The construction of flyover. Lanes has been reduced from 3 to 2 temporarily to accommodate the installation of column and beam
LANE WIDTH REDUCTION
• The upgrading of existing road from 2 to 4 lanes. Reduction of lane width while maintaining the number of existing lanes to accommodate the upgrading works.
ROAD DIVERSION
• Total road closure for beam launching resulting to road diversion.
WHAT IS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT?

DEFINITION TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN (TCP) WORK ZONE
TMP refers to a compiled document consisting of method statement of
Traffic Management, work programme, TCP & etc.
Shows the placement of Traffic Control Devices (TCD) according to the construction sequence
Provide information on the types of areas that
will be involved.
WHAT IS TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PLAN (TMP)?
DESIGN PHASE
DESIGN PHASE
TCP must cover overall project site
TCP must be audited by Road Safety Auditor during the RSA Stage 3 Audit
Road Design Engineers design a conceptual TCP
The Road Authorities or the person/parties carrying out works on the road should
allocate funds for the execution of traffic management at work zones
For the purpose of costing, Consultants and Contractors are to refer to

CURRENT ISSUES
Inadequate TCD
Inappropriate signage
Lack of maintenance
Not enough workers
Lack of safety auditing of work zones
POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
The Road Authorities and
Supervising Engineers must review TMP to
ensure best practice are
implemented and optimum materials
used
New additions to the Standard Specifications
must be strictly implemented
Constant checks to the work zones
