Day 1
Sibiu is a city in Transylvania, Romania, with a population of 137,026. Nowadays the capital of Sibiu County, between 1692 and 1791 and 1849-1865 Sibiu was the capital of the Principality of Transylvania. Sibiu is one of the most important cultural centers of Romania and, in tandem with the city of Luxembourg, it was designated a European Capital of Culture for the year 2007. Formerly the centre of the Transylvanian Saxons, the old city of Sibiu was ranked as "Europe's 8th most idyllic place to live" by Forbes.

Day 2
In the Middle Ages, about 300 villages were defended by Kirchenburgen, or fortified churches with massive walls. Though many of these fortified churches have fallen into ruin, nowadays south-eastern Transylvania region has one of the highest numbers of existing fortified churches from the 13th to 16th centuries. More than 150 villages in the area count various types of fortified churches in good shape, seven of them being included in the UNESCO World Heritage. Many Saxon villages in Transylvania became depopulated or abandoned when their German-speaking inhabitants immigrated to Germany in the 1990s, and this is our Photographical subject in the second day of the trip.

Day 3
The area has a rich variety of customs, related to the changing times of the year and cycles of life. To this day, it is a custom to wear the traditional folk costumes.

Day 4
The Transfăgărășan is the second-highest paved road in Romania. Built as a strategic military route, the 90 km of twists and turns run north to south across the tallest sections of the Southern Carpathians, between the highest peaks in the country.
