The epigraphic inscriptions are crucial to our understanding of the Lycian people and their Indo-European language. Patara is your next stop. Later renamed Arsinoe, this was a flourishing Lycian city on the south-west Mediterranean coast. These cones and strange rock formations have been sculpted by wind and rain erosion. WeatherIts Mediterranean climate makes Turkey an ideal year round destination. Most people choose to visit during Spring or Autumn, but the country enjoys sunny days right through the year. Along the coast, long hot summer days are tempered by refreshing sea breezes. Further inland, low humidity makes travel both relaxing and comfortable.
