Travel Journal Take a picture of the kids in your class with the digital cameras. Have the kids wave or lean against the wall or sit on the floor. Save each child’s picture to their H drive. IN THE LAB Open ImageBlender. Open the picture from the H drive. Use the lasso tool to trace all the way around the body of the person in the picture. Click on Image > Erase Background. Have the kids use the eraser to get the areas they missed with the lasso. Finally, save this image as a GIF. (Choose from the drop down.) Make sure Save white as transparent is selected. Save this file back to the H drive with a DIFFERENT file name.

• Take a picture of the kids in your class with the digital cameras. Have the kids wave or lean against the wall or sit on the floor.

• Have students research where they want to go on their “vacation”. Historical sights are always good.

• Search on Ask.com or the Library Media Archive for images of these places. Avoid pictures that already have people in them.

• Save these pictures to their H drive.• Open PowerPoint.• Right click on EACH slide. Choose background > drop

down > images and select an image to serve as the background. Choose apply.

• Insert Picture from File. Select the image of themselves.• Position themselves realistically on the photograph.

• Have students use a blank US map and create a map of their travels. This is done in ImageBlender. Insert this in the PowerPoint show.

• Create a trip itinerary. This is done on a slide in PowerPoint.
