Dear Friends,

Welcome to the new year which is always a time to reflect on past progress and achievements. The POTCF marked its 22nd anniversary in 2018 with the opening of two new Treasure Chest Programs: one located in Toledo Children’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio and the other at the University of Missouri Women and Children’s Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The Treasure Chest Foundation’s 23rd year is shaping up to be a very memorable one as we continue to identify new and innovative methods for fundraising which enable us to pursue our dream of one day providing smiles and comfort to every child who is diagnosed with cancer across the nation. Planning is underway to open more Treasure Chest Programs in the Midwest this year.

The Treasure Chest Foundation greatly appreciates the support we’ve received and we thank everyone who has responded. We also thank the volunteers who help to create gift bags for our clients along with boxing, labeling and sorting toys. It is this type of support that makes it possible for us to continue to put smiles on the faces of brave children and teens undergoing treatment for cancer.

Each year a major source of funding comes from our annual Treasuring Our Kids fundraising gala. On March 23, 2019 we will proudly host our Tenth Annual installment of this critical fundraiser at The Odyssey in Tinley Park. You can contribute to the fundraiser’s success by donating auction and raffle prizes, gift cards and other much-appreciated items. Or, you can take advantage of a great opportunity to gain exposure by purchasing an ad in our program booklet or choosing from the numerous sponsorships surrounding this exciting event. The money raised during this magical evening helps make it possible for us to provide services to more than 13,300 young cancer patients each month in 54 hospitals in 19 different states. Treasure Chest Foundation Receives Truckload of Mattel Toys from Anonymous Donor The employees of the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation were delighted when a semi-truck pulled up to their warehouse with a load of Mattel toys. The bewildered, but appreciative, staff members and volunteers were amazed when the driver opened the truck to reveal five pallets full of toys totaling an extraordinary 1,800 pounds!

Could this incredible delivery have been yet another kind act by that famous inhabitant of the North Pole? You know, the big guy with the red suit and the long, white beard? The gracious donor has remained anonymous for seven consecutive years, but for those who TRULY believe . . . Thanks to his . . . or her kindness, hundreds of children and teens who have struggled in their battle against childhood cancer found a reason to smile during the holiday season.

How We Do It

The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing comfort and distraction from painful procedures to children and teens who have been diagnosed with cancer by providing gifts from a treasure chest. The Foundation supports over 13,300 children and teens each month who are diagnosed with cancer and treated at one of 54 cancer treatment centers in the United States.

The Foundation depends on contributions of money, toys and gifts through private and corporate donations.
