Lana stands up from her seat and begins to walk forward. Allof a sudden, she stops in her tracks. We PULL in on her faceas she takes a deep breath. Her eyes widen and she drops her

plate. It shatters to on the floor.

LANA falls down to the floor. Pete rushes over to her, knellsbefore her, worried. Lanas eyes are shut and she isunresponsive. The camera pans upward, from above their heads.

Jake is hit in the back of the head with a pistol. He goesdown to the ground and we pull up from him to reveal thedrunken man.

We cut to Jake, struggling to get up from the ground.

BACK ON THE DRUNK, as he points his gun to Jakes face. ThenSuddenly --

JADE (O.S.)HEY!

The drunk gunman looks up and we jump to Jade, standing inthe door way. The man points the gun toward her, about topull the trigger when Jade balls her fist and aims it at him.

Suddenly, her ring begins to produce a bright green beam thatshoots into him, sending him soaring unto the other side ofthe alleyway.

Jade looks down at Jake. He looks up at her, stillstruggling. Then, his head falls to the ground as he looseshis consciousness.

AMANDAThe kryptonite that resides in thegirls blood will release a shock

Two gun shots are heard inside the alley. The jump in theirtracks in shock. Everyone drops down to the ground as we hearconstant screams.

We see five Checkmate agents rush toward Quentin and Cynthia.Quentin pushes Cynthia out of the way and they grab him.

CYNTHIAWAIT!!

The Agents pause.

The agent pulls a taser gun out from his jacket and pushes itinto Quentins side. He shakes and then goes to sleep.

Jake is angry and confused. He tries to move from his bed,but struggles.

JADE

When I brought you back here, I dida scan of the area you wereattacked and found somethingunexpected. It seems like you hadan electrical chip inside of you.

Jake is shocked.

was a behavior modification chip,meaning you werent 100 percent incontrol of yourself.

Jake looks at Jade, who stands in front of him with her ringaimed at his face. Standing each other off, the pause for afew seconds.

JADEGo! Quick before they find you!

Jack grins, then runs out of the room. We see dozens ofguards rushing right behind him. He looks back and is almostshoot by a green ray of energy. He ducks out of the way andit shatters the glass from the window. He looks down out the

window, then back again as the guards have almost reachedhim. He decides to jump.

INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NIGHT.

FADE IN:

INT. CHECKMATE - HALLWAYS - NIGHT.

We open on the floors of Checkmates hallways. We PAN in onthe Checkmate logo on the pale white floor. Then, we seethree sets of feet walking by the camera, followed by LanaLang, who is being dragged down the hall by Checkmate agents.

WE CLOSE in on her face. Her eyes are fluttering.

LANAS POV: Vision is blurred as she blinks off and on. Shelook at the ceiling as she passes bright lights bulbs, placedin a linear position, running down the long hallway.

CUT TO:

INT. CHECKMATE - DETENTION CENTER - NIGHT.

The two Checkmate agents and Cheshire open the doors to oneof the detention rooms. They walk in, the first of the agentsopens the cell door and the other drags her into it. He dropsher arm and pushes her into the cell. They close and lock thedoors.

CHESHIREWake-y wake-y.

Lana struggles to sit up, as she is still dazed. She opensher eyes.

CHESHIRE (CONTD)How you doing Lana?

LANAWhat is this?

Lana starts to cough, violently.

CHESHIRENot feeling to well huh? The bosssaid youd be sick.

LANAWhats happening to me.

LANA feels a sharp pain in her arm. She looks down at it andwe see a gash there. Cheshire smiles and raises her claws.

WE COME UP on Jake, slowly pacing down the quiet streets of asuburban neighborhood block. WE CLOSE UP on his face, as helooks dazed and confused.

He turns his attention to his left, and stops walking. We PANaround to his view and see an abandoned house that has beenboarded up in the doors and windows. It is his family home.

He sighs, then walks toward the house. Walking up threestairs, he finds himself on the front porch. He continues to

walk on the porch until he reaches the front door.

He reaches his hand out and then pauses for a moment. Hecontinues to stretch his arm until he touches the housesbricks. He closes his eyes and we --

FLASH TO:

EXT. BACKYARD - NIGHT. (FLASHBACK)

POLICE SIRENS scream throughout the neighborhood. Jake is inthe backyard, sitting down in the backyard in utter shock. Hegazes at the sight of his house while its still burning. His

eyes begin to water. ON THAT WE --

FLASH TO:

EXT. SUBURBAN NEIGHBORHOOD - HOUSE - FRONT PATIO - NIGHT.

We opens his eyes slowly and takes his hand away from thehouse. We turns around and puts his head against the boardson the door. He slowly squats down until his is completely onthe cold wooden porch. He shuts his eyes tight and begins tosob.

A few moments of that and suddenly --

WOMAN (O.S.)Jake?

Jake opens his eyes quickly and looks to a woman, standing aneighboring porch.

WOMAN (CONTD)Jake, is that you?

Jake stands to his feet and slowly backs away from the house.

WOMAN (CONTD)It is you! The police weresearching for you...its been

months!

Jake seems confused.

WE come up on Lana. Sitting on the floor of her cell in deepthought. Suddenly, the door to the room opens and she turnsher attention toward it. WE CUT to the doorway and see twoagents, holding Quentin.

One agent opens the cell door before the other pushes Quentininside.

LANAQuentin, are you okay?!

Quentin falls to his knees and hugs Lana tightly.

Were on the basement stairs as light being to shine downupon them. The door is opening and two sets of foot stepsrush down the stairs. We reveal them to be CYNTHIA, followedby Pete. They reach the floor and Cynthia walks toward the

weapons chest.

PETESo...you mean to tell me that

theres a secret governmentinstallation underneath the C.B.I?

CYNTHIAIts called Checkmate and its runby--

PETEDr. Waller.

Cynthia stops and turns to face him.

CYNTHIA

Yeah...how did you guess?

PETEI heard her talking about takingcare of Lana a few weeks ago, andit was NOT the good kind.

CYNTHIAWell, the cats out of the bag now.Lets focus on getting her the hellout of there.

The camera PANS slowly from her view, taking our attentionfrom her and to JAKE who stands at the front desk.

Jake pauses. Something has caught his eye. We PAN across theroom to see two men behind the desk, playing a game of chess.

Jake stares at them as they play. We CLOSE IN on the gameitself and see one man pushing a WHITE QUEEN aside andputting his black piece there at the end of his opponentsside.

down and Lana hits the floor. She flips herself back up andpunches the next agent in the nose.

WE CUT TO Quentin as an Agent punches him in the face. Hebounces back quickly as he punches the agent in the gut, thenshots his knee up to his face, causing him to fall backwardon his back.

WE PAN OVER TO Cynthia, holding a gun aiming it up an agent.Shes pulls the trigger and we follow the bullet in slow

motion as it shoots toward the agent. It finally meets hishead and we JUMP CUT TO

PETE who is being cornered by two agents. ONE of them walkstoward him and throws a punch. Pete ducks out of the way andthe agents hand shatters the glass case holding a fireextinguisher that was behind. The agents pulls his hand outin pain as glass shards have broke his skins. Pete turnsaround and grabs the extinguisher. As the other agentapproaches him, he swings it upward, smacking him in hischin. The agent falls back.

We cut over to Lana as she punches another agent door to thefloor when suddenly, she grabs her head in pain. She beginsto scream in terror.

The camera FLASHES to WHITE and we hear a large electricalcackle. The screen fades back to normal and we see Lana, dropfrom air. A SHOCK WAVE of energy spreads in every direction,sending Quentin flying backward.

INT. CHECKMATE - ELEVATOR - NIGHT.

AMANDA stands inside the elevator. Shes almost reached theroof floor the lights suddenly go out and the elevator stops.It trembles, so she grabs a hold of the railing on the side.

A few seconds pass and power is restored. The elevatorcontinues to move up.

EXT. DOWNTOWN ODYSSEY - NIGHT.

WERE ON A wide shot of the entire CITY. The wave of energypasses through the clouds in the sky and we hear a LOUDthunder clap. Then, a few moments later, greenish rain beginsto fall from the sky.
