ENGAGING GOD SUMMER SERMON SERIES: YOUR QUESTIONS, HIS ANSWERS continues today. Based on questions we have received from you, we will be preaching/teaching on the following topics:

Aug. 16 Heaven: Who & How?

Aug. 23 Heaven: When & What?

Aug. 30 What Happens When Faith & Life Collide?

Sept. 6 Does God still speak today?

Please Note: Staring TODAY (and Aug. 16 and 23) at 9:30 in the Community Center, we will be addressing questions you have given to us related to same sex relationships, gay marriage, can a person be gay and Christian, and so on. We believe that a Bible study setting, which provides people with an opportunity to respond, ask questions, etc., is a more effective way to address these issues. SEAT CUSHIONS—For some adults, the church pews can be hard and uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. To help everyone be comfortable during worship, Women’s League has purchased seat cushions for those adults who need one! You may get one in the Tape Ministry room, or ask an usher for one. OUTDOOR WORSHIP: Sunday, Aug. 30 will be our last outdoor worship service. This is a great opportunity to invite a friend. Please bring a lawn chair and/or a blanket to sit on. ADULT BIBLE CLASSES AND SUNDAY SCHOOL SUNDAY SCHOOL - “WHAT’S IN THE BIBLE?” Parents and kids – “What’s in the Bible?” continues today from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Join us as we continue our journey through the Old Testament books of Genesis and Exodus with videos, songs and learning activities. Meet in the School Cafeteria. Leader: David Brown. "THE STORY OF JESUS" will not meet Aug 9, 16 and 23. Class will resume Aug 30. WHY IS GRACE SO AMAZING? - This ongoing series of “Fearless Conversation” series is led by Greg Gellert in Meeting Room 1.

>ENGAGING GOD’S PEOPLE STEPHEN MINISTRY AT TRINITY is looking for people who want to walk alongside others through life challenges. Prayerfully consider if you are suited to be someone that others could trust and benefit from your weekly visits. Stephen Ministry is a two-year commitment and requires 50 hours of training. Trinity will supply all training and materials. Expect to be positively impacted by the training and the experience. Questions? See Pastor Gary or email [email protected]. STEPHEN MINISTRY- O Lord, our good shepherd, just as You care for your flock and for the lost sheep, You call us to care for those within and outside our congregation who are struggling with challenges. Help each of us to recognize their needs so that we can reach out with Your love and compassion. Help us also to recognize those who could benefit from additional care so that we may guide them to our pastors and Stephen leaders. We pray in the name of Jesus Amen. Call the church office to reach a Stephen leader. BARNABAS MINISTRY is a friendly visit to anyone who would like someone to talk to. Keeping connected with each other through home visits, phone calls and encouraging cards, letting them know we care for them in Jesus name. For more information, contact Edna Grogan at (586) 212-1092. TECH BOOTH HELP NEEDED—We are looking for volunteers who want to help in the tech booth on Sunday. LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK - Have you taken Living Your Strengths, yet felt you "weren't quite done" discovering the possibilities? Let Your Life Speak is a seven-week class that picks up where Living Your Strengths left off, with a primary emphasis on discerning your calling. Individual and group exercises will help you discern "the good works God has prepared beforehand" for you to do. Tuesdays, 7-8:30 p.m., Sept. 8 - Oct. 27. Sign up at the Welcome Center. Questions about the process? Please contact Kathy Reither, at

[email protected]. LIVING YOUR STRENGTHS JOURNEY–God has uniquely designed each of us with a set of talents. The seven-week Living Your Strengths Journey will be offered on Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m., Sept. 9 – Oct. 28. The book cost is $15. Great Start Parenting Coalition of Macomb County provides the book at NO COST to parents living in Macomb County with a child 12 or under. Those completing the class will also receive Strengths Based Leadership. For info about the class, contact Sue von Fange at [email protected]. Plan to have fun as you uncover your “Top 5” talent themes and they make you, “you.” Following is 1 of 34 themes and how it’s designed to bless.

Page 5: Trinity Lutheran Church Announcer for Aug. 9, 2015

THE BLESSING OF THE COMMUNICATION TALENT is found in the profound fact that it’s easy for you to find words to convey your ideas, thoughts, and feelings. The real blessing of your talent doesn’t stop there, though. You can help other people express their thoughts and feelings as is seen in the way you can often complete people’s sentences or find the word that they cannot find in expressing their feelings. As a result, you can form deep, meaningful and bonded relationships and help others do the same. How do you use your Communication talent in service of God and others? MOTHERS OF PRESCHOOLERS Are you a mom of young children, from infancy through kindergarten? Are you interested in learning more about great mothering? Do you have a desire to make friends with other moms just like you? Join MOPS! Registration for the upcoming year is underway. We meet the first and third Wednesday of each month from 9-11 a.m., and our kick off meeting for the year is Sept. 16. For more information or to sign up, please contact Jamie McMahon at [email protected] or (586) 419-3305. CAREGIVERS NEEDED FOR MOPS The MOPS group is also looking to add caregivers to its growing MOPPETS program. If you have a passion for sharing Jesus with little children, contact Andrea Bertels at [email protected] or (231) 881-6558 to learn more about how you can help.
