-1-*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Liturgist

One: Compassionate Christ, you have shown your lovein works of healing, forgiveness, and justice, and by giving yourself to us and for us,in your death and resurrection.

All: Yet we are slow to love and to serve, we seek to have our own needs metbefore caring for the needs of others;

We fail to give ourselves, and choose instead to preserveour safety, our comfort and our privilege.

Forgive us, heal us, and teach us to live lives of compassionfollowing your example

*ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

One: Jesus, in extravagant compassion, has already secured our forgiveness, and calls us to live as those who are renewed and thankful.

Receive this grace, and share it.All: We are so grateful; we will go and live differently

because of what you, Jesus, have done for us. Thanks be to God

-2-ANTHEM - Flying Free Don Besig

There is a place I call my own where I can stand by the sea,And look beyond the things I’ve known, and dream that I might be free.Like the bird above the trees gliding gently on the breeze,I wish that all my life I’d be without a care, and flying free!

But life is not a distant sky without a cloud, without rain,And I can never hope that I can travel on without pain.Time goes swiftly on its way.All too soon we’ve lost today.I cannot wait for skies of blue or dream so long that life is through.

So life’s a song that I must sing, a gift of love I must share. And when I see the joy it brings, my spirits soar through the air.Like that bird up in the sky, life has taught me how to fly.For now I know what I can be and now my heart is flying free!

PRESENTATION OF OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGSOffertory Anthem - For the Beauty of the Earth arr. Nancy Grundahl

For the beauty of the earth sing, O sing today,Of the sky and of our world, sing, O sing alway.Nature rules and magnifies all around us lies,God of all to thee we raise grateful hymns of praise.

For the joy of eye and ear, sing, O sing today,Mystic harmony we hear, sing, O sing alway. For the heart and mind’s delight found in sound and sight.God of all to thee we raise grateful hymns of praise.

For each perfect gift of thine, sing, O sing today.Graces human and divine, sing, O sing alway.Flowers of earth and buds of heaven to us freely given.

God of all to thee we raise grateful hymns of praise.-3-

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening earsAll nature sings, and ‘round me rings the music of the spheres. This is my Father’s world; I rest me in the thought,Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas; God’s hands all wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world; oh, let me ne’er forgetThat, though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet. This is my Father’s world; why should my heart be sad?The Lord is king, let the heavens ring;God reigns, let the earth be glad.

BLUE HYMNAL RECYCLE. With the purchase of the new “Glory to God” hymnals, we are offering our old blue hymnals to anyone who would like to have one (or more) to take home. These hymnals will be available in the Cloister and there will be a donation box available if you would like to make a freewill donation. These collected funds will be used for our Samaritan Fund which goes to help people in the community.

ON SUNDAY, JUNE 28, we will begin our summer worship in Bellinger Chapel at 9:30 a.m. We will also be celebrating with Louise Tefft on her 100 th birthday that is July 4th. There will be no Adult, Youth or Children’s Education until September. Refreshments provided by members of the Hospitality Committee will follow each week after worship in the Cloister.

HELP THE HOUSE! For a variety of reasons, women and small children sometimes need to stay somewhere other than home. The Birdie Turner House is there to help and our Mission Committee wants to “Help the House” as our summer mission project. Birdie Turner is always in need of everyday items like cleaning supplies, laundry/dish detergent, toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, shower gel and other items used daily. And, because these women may arrive at any hour, and often with nothing more than what they are wearing, they need “motel-sized” shampoo, lotion, toothpaste and other personal care items for “We’re Glad You’re Here” bags given to each new resident. Want to help? Drop off any donations at the “house” in Fellowship Hall. The Mission Committee thanks you for whatever you can do.
