Like people, some fish like to flitter in the sunlight. They travel in groups in warm soft waters. They gather in schools and stick together. Summer is here, and with it comes much excitement. Summer also

brings the traffic, vacation time, traffic, the beach, traffic, the heat and traffic.

The activities are endless. One of my favorite childhood summer activities was

fishing. Walking on the beach the last several weeks I have noticed that the

fishermen are out. The other day, a church member posted on Facebook a

recent fishing outing that his family had been on. They caught several different

types of fish. It made me start to think about if I were a fish, which type of fish

would I be? (Oh, it is a weird question, but I am sad to say that I have even

stranger ones.) I came up with a clown fish because I like to “clown around” a

lot. I am sure that I am not the only one of those here at Trinity.

What type of fish are you…a brim...a bass...a trout? Fish, just like peo-

ple have different personalities. Like people, some fish like to flitter in the

sunlight. They travel in groups in warm soft waters. They gather in schools and

stick together. Other fish want to be left alone: they are always somewhere in

the distance. They want to be on their own, please leave them to the corners.

Some require one-on-one interaction. Still others are slow and silent; just leave

them in their hiding spot. Depending on what type of fish we are will determine

how we can become your friends. Some of us will interact with others, while

others will stay in the background. However, in the end we are all fish, and each

has gifts and talents.

In the church we talk about inviting people into relationship with Christ

and His gathering. Some seem to think that the same type of evangelism will

work for everyone. This just is not so. Some of us need fun activities. Group

activities with lots of food and laughter! Others of us want quiet groups of low

key interaction. Some of us are looking for long term relationships, while others

of us want a commitment here and then a break.

What about you? What type of fish are you? How do we feed you?

How do we help you grow? There are opportunities at Trinity for all of God’s

fish. As the Time and Talents brochures have been passed out for this year, I

encourage you to see where God is calling you and get swimming.

Happy Summer to all!

TREASURER’S REPORT (April 2017)

Music Ministry News Summer is upon us, but you will not notice many changes during worship. The music

program continues with only changes to practice schedules. The Chancel Choir is hard at

work preparing anthems to sing during the summer months. We will not have regular

Wednesday night practice after the first Wednesday in June until after Labor Day. We will

meet at 10:15 in the choir room each Sunday morning. The regular practice for Handbells

has stopped for the summer as well. We hope to play with a smaller ensemble a couple of times

during the summer. The orchestra has plans to play over the summer also.

Summertime is a great time to share your talent. If you would like to sing a song, play an

instrument, or anything else musical, just speak to Albert, Karen, or myself and we will work with

you. (Oh, and J. S., I haven't forgotten you. ) I would love to add some specials during the summer. If

you have any desire to learn to play Handbells, I can work out a way to help you. We need a few extra

people to play or help with subbing. We may even form a smaller group that plays fewer bells. I am

sure that Dan can always find a place for more instruments. Please consider joining one of the groups.

We are looking at doing the Beach Circles again this summer on Sunday evenings. The starting

date will be announced soon. Please join us at the beach for a special time of fun and fellowship. We

have played games, shared communion, had times of singing and just relaxation and fellowship. This

is a wonderful time to get to know each other better, and there is always a breeze. There is nothing to

compare to being by the ocean with friends.

lovely couple who has enriched the

Trinity family for so many years.

Do we pray like Jesus?

Our summer take-home study will try to

answer this question. We will be reading

the book, Pray Like Jesus.

We will meet one time on Thursday, June 8th at 6 pm to

discuss our goals for the study. After this you have the

flexibility to take your time and work through the study at

your pace wherever you are (even the beach). Books are

$10 and are available in the church office. If you aren’t

able to make it on the 8th, that’s ok. We would still love

for you to get a book and participate.

What a great semester! But just because we

take Sunday nights off during the summer

doesn’t mean we won’t be busy. We have Ter-

rific Tuesdays for our children and multiple

great Wednesday outings for our youth, all

while still hosting a great VBS, hosting our

first Salkehatchie camp here, visiting Penn

Center’s Salkehatchie and sending many of our

youth and children to various Methodist

camps. We encourage you to take advantage

of as many of these great opportunities as you

can!

We need another Children’s Church

volunteer who can serve during the 8:30

am service once a month. If you can fill

this spot, please contact Charles!

If you have not been assigned

your spot in VBS as a volunteer,

we still can use a few more peo-

ple. Please see Cathy or Charles

with any questions.

The Education Committee is meeting on

Tuesday, June 6th at 5:30 pm.

Terrific Tuesdays are back!

Here are our JUNE Terrific Tuesdays!

June 13th—Pool Party

June 20th—Putt-Putt $5

June 27th—Fire Station

Terrific Tuesdays are for children pre-K through

5th grade. We do need updated release forms for

these activities, and all activities will involve us

meeting here at 10 am and returning at noon.

Please contact Charles to sign up.

Our first Summer Youth Wild Wednesday is com-

ing up! We will be going to Rockin’ Jump in Myrtle

Beach on June 14th. We will meet at the church at

2:30 pm and carpool there and back. We should be

back around 5:30 pm. Please contact Charles to

sign up. Cost is $10, and since our release forms

run summer to summer we will need a new 2017-

18 form from everyone.

The summer is when we do a lot

of planning for the Fall’s MYF

and Trinity Kid’s activities. We

will be needing additional help

this coming year, including

meals, helping with activities

and cleanup. If you want to be

involved in some way, please

contact Charles.

How Can I Help?

July 22nd is fast approaching, and with that day comes North Strand Salkehatchie. Several have asked, “How

can I help?” There are several ways. First – we need prayer. Please pray for those who are coming to serve and the

homeowners who we will be serving. Second – you may help financially. You may drop a check in the offering plate

to assist with the cost of the week and the work on the homes. Other than that, we are also in need of these other

items that will be used throughout the week:

Bottled Water and Gatorade for the campers to drink on site

Toilet paper

Paper Towels

Large Hefty Trash Bags

Sunscreen and Bug Spray

If you would to assist with any of these items, please drop them off at the church by Sunday, July 16th, so that

we can be prepared. Thank you in advance!

Please Review This God-Inspired Website!

The Cross Ministries website shows you the Groom Texas Ministry. It is located a few miles from

Amarillo in the panhandle area of Texas. Started in 1995 by God’s chosen builder, Steve Thomas,

and his wife, Bobby, the Cross Ministry features life-sized bronze sculptures that portray Jesus’

journey to the Cross. First, there is a 19-story steel Cross that can be seen for over 20 miles and is

lighted at night. Then there are sculptures of each of the 14 Stations of the Cross, the Shroud of

Turin, the Empty Tomb, St. Michael the Archangel, the Ten Commandments, the Last Supper (in progress) and more.

Each year 10 million people drive by the Cross in Groom, Texas. Some stop and some drive on by. But everyone of

them sees the Cross and thinks about Jesus Christ if only for a minute. The site has much more information and a

whole gallery of pictures. I promise that you will be fascinated and blessed by this site. It is fantastic and inspiring!

and now is the time to sign up. You may register online at

http://2017.cokesburyvbs.com/trinitynmb or by completing a registration

form located in the narthex or the church office. Tell everyone you know to

please register for a week of fantastic fun. There is a place for all ages-we

will have classes for children 3 through high school, and the nursery will be

open for younger children.

I want to thank everyone who came out for the planning meeting. If you

couldn’t make it, don’t fret-there are still spots available for you to help out.

For more information, please contact Cathy Windell at

[email protected] or 843-446-6054.
