You’ve got this! “You’ve got this!” That phrase is engraved on a bracelet I received last month. While it’s a pleasant reminder throughout that day that I can handle pretty much anything that comes my direction, I find it more important to wear while I bike or run. The reason it gives me support and encouragement is not because it’s all about me. I mean, I guess in the middle of a tough situation you could say, “I’ve got this”and think, I have the ability, strength, patience (whatever gift you need at that point) to get myself through this. But, again, it’s not all about me. Even when I’m in the middle of a long bike ride and I look down, I’m reminded that I can do this…because I have the support, prayers and encouragement from others. This bracelet constantly reminds me that there is a communion of saints who have gone before me and who surround me now to encourage, love and support me. And that, my friends, is a great reminder…in training and in life. I think, too often, we are not aware of the love and support we have in our community of faith. When push comes to shove, or when things get tough, we dig deep inside of ourselves to take care of just us. It seems almost unnatural to reach out to others for help and support because we think we need to do things on our own. But let me tell you, we don’t go through this thing called life all by ourselves. Loved by God, we are drawn into this community of faith.

Surrounded by saints each and every day, we are constantly supported, held up, loved and nurtured. Last month at the Pocono Retreat, we were reminded that, “You never walk alone.” It’s a simple phrase, but again, it echoes the reminder that we are part of a greater community of faith. This

community of faith is with you wherever you go. This community of faith cheers you on from the sidelines. It lifts you up when you do not have the strength to do so yourself. It prays for you every day. It feeds you (spiritually and physically). It provides company when you feel alone, and it is ALWAYS with you. You are never alone. This thing called life? You’ve got this. You’ve got this because God is present in your life and continues to surround you with life, love, grace and community. So, keep your eyes open this summer. Be aware of the gifts God has given to you. Be aware, too, of the gift of community that surrounds you. If you go away this summer, take time to pray each day for this community of faith, because we will be holding you in prayer as well. When you come back from travels, reconnect, share stories of your travels and be embraced by this community of faith. You will never walk alone. “Jesus said, and remember I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) +peace, Pastor Jen

The Adult Bike Hike is back! Sunday, July 10th

Come join your fellow bike riders for a leisurely ride with a tasty lunch break in the middle. We will gather in the church parking lot at 11:15 and carpool to the trail head in Cornwall, or you can meet us at the trail head between 11:30-11:45. We’ll hop on our bikes and ride about 4 miles into Lebanon for lunch and beverages at the Snitz Creek Brewery. After some lunch and fellowship, we’ll head back to Cornwall via the trail. Look for the sign up on the kiosk in June and get your bikes ready! Questions? See Pastor Jen.

Hospital Visitors Needed Local Lutherans have benefitted for years from the ministry of of the West Berks Mission District Hospital Visitors Program at the Reading Hospital. The program is in desperate need of more visitors if it is to continue. Hospital visitors provide a listening ear, prayer and devotional material, and may offer to contact the patient’s pastor or home congregation. Volunteering requirements: - 2-3 hours one day a week - the ability to keep confidences - the ability to walk through the hospital. Training and devotional materials are provided. Current visitors describe this opportunity to serve as pleasant and spiritually rewarding. For more information on the program and how you might get involved, please contact Pastor Carl Filer at 610-777-7885, or talk to Pastor Bill for more information.

Prayer & Healing Service On June 28th and July 26th at 7:00pm we will continue to gather for prayer and healing at Trinity. This service has received very positive feedback from all who have attended. We would like more of our Trinity family to consider taking the time to join us as we lift up in prayer the sick and those in need within our own lives, our community, and the world. The service includes Holy Communion with distribution by intinction at stations as we do on Saturday nights. This service is not just for those in need of prayers for healing, but for all of us who are willing to pray for the needs of others.

Dear Disciples of Trinity: Grace and peace from God our Creator, our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit who sustains us. I was jarred into reality when it was announced at the staff meeting that the June and July newsletters are combined. So, this is my last opportunity to share with you in print. This letter can only be filled with gratitude for all the experiences I have had this year in your midst. The times of laughter and the times of tears; the times of work and the times of play; the times of singing and the times of silence; the times of study and the times of prayer. And as Pastor Bill always reminded me, “It’s all good!” I especially thank you for the generous dose of grace you gave me, and for treating me not like a stranger, or a guest, but like a child at home. So, thank you all for incredible worship experiences, memorable times of learning how a congregation lives and breathes, and the endless times of food and fellowship. My gift to all of you is a poem, prayer, hymn that I wrote for the last graduating class of the Lutheran School for Church Workers. I now pass it on to you Pastor Bill, Pastor Jen, Chris Kennedy, Robin Lupowitz, Kathie Matthew, Darin Lewis, Sarah McGrory, Katie Mazurek, Linda Holt, Craig and Karen Matthew, and to all the disciples that make up the Body of Christ in Trinity Lutheran Church, Robesonia, PA.

TRINITY AFFIRMATION Class Hymn - Tune: Wachet Auf Lutheran School for Church Workers, Baltimore, MD - 1965 Gracious Father and Creator Our affirmation now we offer For gifts of life and time from Thee. Life in all its aspects holy; In time we use to Thy own glory, Awe-ful and wonder-ful are we. The morning lights’ waking; The seasons recurring. To God alone our grateful song, to Thee belong All life’s rejuvenating. Christ, our Savior and Defender, Our affirmation now we offer For meaning, wholeness in Thy sight. Give us courage to confess Thee A living faith to love, express Thee Good Shepherd, Thou our life and light. Now love we all can know; To others now we show Our Redeemer, the life of which we are all a part; Help us to know Thee in our heart.

Holy Spirit, ever with us, Life-giving breath and Holy purpose Our affirmation now we give. For Thy work in all accomplished; The church that through Thee was established. Bring unity of heart and will. Help us to feel Thy love Witnessed as though a dove were descending. Life we have only in Thy grace, Until we see Thee face to face.

WOMEN’S WISDOM MINISTRY MEETING JUNE 8TH – 7pm – IMPORTANT!

A special “thank you” must be extended to all the people who made Bold Women’s Day the memorable experience it was. As one woman who attended said, “It was an inspiring, friendly, fulfilling (spirit and body) day.” We not only learned but experienced that we can be bold in our faith to approach the throne of grace to receive mercy, so we can meet the needs of a suffering world. There will be a very important Women’s Wisdom Ministry meeting on June 8th @ 7 PM to reflect on this year’s experience with women’s ministry, especially Bold Women’s Day and look forward to the next year beginning in fall. This year has seen a core of women make a commitment to see that Women’s Wisdom Ministry will continue to grow and thrive. The Holy Spirit has indeed been working in this place to breathe new life into the women of Trinity being called to intentionally serve, doing outreach ministry.

Missing A Person? MAP IS for you!

Tuesday, June 14th & Tuesday, July 12th @ Noon

MAP is an important ministry at Trinity. It is intended for anyone

who has lost a spouse or another significant person in their life. We come together with missing pieces to see if we can find wholeness together. During the summer months, we are simply going out to lunch and sharing a meal together. We will meet at the church and then carpool for lunch to Country Fair in Myerstown. It will be a day of joy and laughter as we gather at table, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. Please RSVP on the kiosk or call the church office. We continue to bring healing and find wholeness…as we piece it all together.

SURPRISE!!!! We have an Intern for

2016-17

In early May, Pastor Bill received communication from Gettysburg Seminary that Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN) had an intern whose internship site fell through. The question was, is Trinity still willing to have an intern? As we are still in

the discussion phase of calling a third pastor, this opportunity will give us two more years to grow to that challenge. Therefore, the consensus was that Trinity is indeed open to another intern! While the intern was discerning among multiple sites, she talked with Pastor Bill and Pastor Jen, and on Friday, May 20th, elected to come to Trinity. We are still working out some of the details, but it is possible that the new vicar will arrive the week of August 1st, joining us for worship on August 7th.

Here is some biographical information about Vicar Sarah Fike. Her home church is in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated with a BA in Religion and Social Work

from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Before graduating she did an internship in the Bishop’s Office of the Rocky Mountain Synod and at Denver Urban Ministries in Denver, Colorado. She was then employed for two years as Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries at Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sarah completed her first two years of seminary at Luther Seminary in Saint Paul Minnesota. Sarah’s mother was employed by her home church and so Sarah grew up in the church. She participated in many service trips that have helped to shape her calling. She volunteered in youth ministry during her college years and

focused on social justice issues. She hopes to be part of a parish ministry, probably serving as an associate pastor, and has a passion for prison ministry. Sarah is single and brings a multitude of experiences to Robesonia to share with our Trinity family and our community. We feel blessed to welcome another intern from yet a different seminary; we will now have had exposure to four different ELCA seminaries and a UCC seminary! So, as we say good bye to Vicar Bonnie, let us prepare to welcome Vicar Sarah as the Holy Spirit continues to blow through the ministry of Trinity!

Stocking the New Vicar’s Pantry & Cleaning

the Vicarage Watch the narthex for items to be purchased for Vicar Sarah’s pantry. There will be sticky notes with an item on each. Take as many as you want to help us fill her pantry. You can also purchase gift cards to local grocery stores. Let’s make sure to help her feel welcome as she joins us, probably, on August 7th!!! We may also need people to

help clean the vicarage on July 27th, 28th, 29th. If you are able to help, please call Robin in the church office. Please do not just show up; we need to schedule any work that must be done, so call the church office. Thanks!

Trinity Fellowship Golf Tournament

Update Even in the midst of rain, God was at work at the Green Acres Golf Course. We were able to raise over $5,000 for the Jack Frost Scholarship fund. So, we will once again be able to give two $2,500 scholarships to two Conrad Weiser seniors next year. We want to thank the 108 golfers who registered; 100 actually golfed in the rain. We want to thank the hole sponsors and those who contributed raffle prizes. We want to thank those who cooked and baked and volunteered at the event. And, most importantly, we want to thank the committee that organized the event: Co-chairs Steve Bobick and Don Stripling, Dick & Kathy Shirk, Larry & Barbara Schermick, Don Walters, Paul Ott, John Fraunfelter, Terri & Tyler Schermick, and Sharlene Williams. So far in 2016, Trinity has raised $5,000 for the food pantry, $5,000 for the free medical clinic (Chocolate Festival and 5K run) and now $5,000 for the Jack Frost Scholarship Fund. That speaks volumes to the way the Holy Spirit is working among us here at Trinity! Thank You!!!!

Sunday School Thanks!

Another BIG thank you to all the teachers and helpers that make our Sunday School a wonderful place to be on Sunday morning! We had a fun celebration in May. We also want to thank the Christian Education Board for their support, creativity and energy. It’s never too early to start thinking about next year… we know YOU want to be a Sunday School Teacher. Looking forward to seeing everyone in September! “If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.” —Fred Rogers

Raffle Fundraiser For Jack Frost Parade & Scholarships

The church will be once again have a raffle to help fund the Jack Frost Parade & Scholarships. Tickets will be $10 a piece or 3 for $25 (all purchased in the same name). First prize will be

a $5,000 cash prize. The winner is responsible for all taxes. Second prize is

$500 and third prize is $250, with an additional 10 people winning $100. The proceeds of the raffle will benefit the Jack Frost Parade as well as the two Jack Frost Scholarships for a senior male and female student at Conrad Weiser ($2,500 each). Tickets will be on sale soon at the church, and if you are willing to sell tickets, we will sign them out to you.

The Jack Frost Parade is an incredible outreach opportunity for us at Trinity. We can show non-churched and churched families how we care for our community and demonstrate our love of families and youth. Parades cost a lot of money to bring in bands and attractions. So, we hope that you will purchase and sell raffle tickets. You must be 18 in order to purchase a ticket. Tickets are available now in the church office. We have also purchased the required licenses from the state for this raffle.

Jack Frost Parade Date – Nov. 6th Be sure to save this date, plans are

underway to make this parade bigger and better. We already have the Mummers

coming back as well as some of the bag-pipers. If you are part of a group, club or organization, talk to them now about putting a float or marching in the parade.

We will have the same parade route as last year:

Route 422 West, south on Church Street, east on Ruth Street, ending at the church. We will stage the parade at the Conrad Weiser Middle School. We need more volunteers to help with the parade, so watch for more details, but save the date now!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY June 19th

We Need Help with Trinity’s Robesonia Fair Stand on

June 24-25th from 4-10:00pm

Once again Trinity will be selling Jack Frost raffle tickets, and running a few games to make some money for the Jack Frost Parade. Would you be willing to give 1-2 hours to help re-present Trinity to our community? It is a great night of fellowship, getting to know our neighbors, and helping to promote the parade and Trinity.

It would be wonderful to have a variety of people to help with this task, rather than the same old few. Please sign-up below and return to the office. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Blessings Bestowed When author Gary Smalley asked 100 people to share how they knew they’d received their parents’ blessing, they offered these memories of fatherly love:

• My father put his arm around me at church and let me lay my head on his shoulder. • When my father faced a transfer at work, he purposely took another job so I could finish my senior year in high school. • When I wrecked my parents’ car, my father’s first reaction was to hug me and let me cry instead of yelling at me. • My father went with me to the store when I had to return a purchase I regretted. • My father let me practice pitching to him for a long time after work. • My father cried during my wedding because he was going to miss me being at home.

God’s Work - Our Hands Sunday, Sept. 11

We are planning to repeat God’s Work Our Hands on Sunday, September 11th. We will change up our schedule that day so that we won’t “do” church, but we will “be” the church. This has been an ELCA emphasis for three years.

We begin the morning at 8am with a prayer send-off. We will then go to different service projects to serve our community and people around the world. We will be collecting for health kits, which will be assembled at the church. We will have different service projects for families and individuals to do together, everything from cleaning up yards, to spreading mulch, to clearing trails.

We will then return to the church around 11am for a service of celebration with pictures and singing and a blessing to end our morning. This will be a great day to celebrate what it means to live Christ’s love, and a great way to start off our fall together as the risen body of Christ. Sunday School and our regular fall schedule will begin the following week.

We are looking for service projects, so if you have work to be done, let us know. If you have seen a project within our communities that could use some paint, work, or clean-up, let us know. We will have something for everyone, old and young, all being Christ’s hands together. Wear your special T-shirt from last year, or new participants can pick one up that morning. Watch for sign-up sheets in the narthex, and get ready to be God’s Hands at work!

Have you updated your will and remembered the

ministry of Christ at Trinity? + + +

Give a gift that celebrates your life and commitment to

Christ!

Picnic Baskets Conrad Weiser Food Pantry

Our Conrad Weiser Food Pantry always runs low during the summer months. So we are looking for individuals willing to sponsor special “Picnic Baskets” for the August distribution. The cost of each basket will be $50. They are presently serving over 150 families! The baskets will have some special summer time treats in them, along with all of the normal staples the families enjoy! This will also help to allow the shelves of the pantry to be restocked for the fall. Please, remember the pantry over the summer and pray for the families that we serve. - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Yes, I/we would like to sponsor a picnic basket.

Financial Update THANK YOU for your continued faithful support of the ministry of Christ at Trinity. We continue to reach out to this community in so many ways, making a difference in

the lives of the people of our community, our children, and our families both members and non-members. For your faithful response in sharing out of your blessings…we say THANK YOU! Our giving continues to be ahead of last year, and expenses have held their own as compared to last year. The

building fund will pay for the painting of the sanctuary this summer, and we continue to save for building related expenses, as most of the systems are now 20 years old, and repairs and replacements will need to happen. As we move into these summer months, please remember to be faithful with your giving. We have been blessed as a congregation to be able to do as much as we do. May we be a church of Pentecost, allowing the Holy Spirit to blow us in new directions as we share the Good News of the risen Christ! And may we keep allowing people to see Christ’s amazing grace and love come to life at Trinity. THANK YOU for sharing the blessings with which God Has blessed you!
