TRIP REPORT FITUR CONGRESOS 2010

Dates: 18. – 20.01.2010

Destination: MADRID

Representative Mallorca Son Antem: Claudia Zapke (Senior Sales Manager)

Background: FITUR CONGRESOS is one part of the tradeshow FITUR itself and gives as a workshop the opportunity to Spanish professionals within the group business for incentives / meetings / congresses to present their products and services such as hotels, bus companies, local event agencies and convention bureaus to international clients. National (Spanish) companies presented their product and new offers at a booth: while professionals from local hotels and products (sales and hotel managers) went from table to table to meet international clients.

Appointments: Each local participant had a workshop schedule of appointments. For each appointment 15 minutes were officially set and changes announced each time the 15 minutes had been reached. The participant list was beforehand forwarded to both, clients and professionals from Spain, in order to select the wished appointment. In the end, Son Antem had mainly appointments requested by clients directly and just three overlapping appointments (wished meetings by Son Antem and the client). This was the actual success as Son Antem only had appointments with an interesting mix of international clients who were definitely interested in receiving some information of Marriott and Son Antem. Two leads have been received by Abreu / Portugal and West Bend Cookware / USA for both April/May 2011, offers have been forwarded. Two more clients had some group requests in mind and might send a request in the next weeks. As an interactive bonus a lunch was included, a set menu in gala style, where professionals and clients had the chance to chat again and change business cards which each other. As a result of that workshop: it was a great success and it will be surely worth it to go also in the future. Although too many FIT clients had their desk during the workshop, which was a surprise as this show was announced as to be only for meetings and events/incentives, anyhow, two interesting leads during the show and many interested clients….it was worth it!
