Dear Colleagues,
Contrary to the usual weather pattern, August was as wet as July this year, removing any apprehension in the minds of Mumbaikars regarding availability of water till the next monsoon. However, many districts in the
Vidharbha area received less monsoon rains than last year, forewarning of an imminent drought in the region. Already there is a drought like situation. There are some states like Punjab, Kerala, Delhi received less rainfall this
monsoon season, while many states faced monsoon deluge. Kerala may still get the north-east monsoon subsequently.
The overall world scenario on climate change is scary. The entire weather pattern is changing drastically creating
uncertain climatic conditions. Reduction in CO2 emission is a must for environmental sustainability. It is reported that fish in the sea are dying for reasons unknown, probably due to change in the sea temperatures. But the rise in
temperature is a major cause threatening the survival of many species of birds, fish, plants, animals etc. So, our main aim should be to reduce the carbon footprint by all means.
The World Sustainability Conclave on Climate Change has re-emphasized the need for reducing fossil fuel based power generation and advocated generation from renewable sources. In that direction, Tata Power has acquired a
major asset of 1140 MW of renewable energy. Tata Power is the first private player to have such a large portfolio of renewable assets which is now close to 2GW.
Some great thoughts by great men of our times:
• In a day if you don’t come across any problem, you can be sure that you are travelling on a
wrong path – Swami Vivekananda
• If someone feels that they had never made a mistake in their life, then it means they had never
tried a new thing in life – Albert Einstain.
• Never break four things in our lives – trust, relation, promise & heart, because when they
break, they do not make noise but pains a lot – Charles Dickens.
• If you win, you need not have to explain, if you lose, you should not be there to explain - Adolf
hitler
• I will not say i failed 1000 times, i will say i discovered 1000 ways that can cause failure –
Thomas Alva Edison.
