LEADERSHIP REPORT Hi Everyone Thank you to all parents for your continued support of the school as we continue to work through the Covid-19 challenges. The school is continuing to place a high importance on hygiene standards, extra cleaning is occurring throughout the school and students are washing hands regularly. Please continue to:
Ensure drop off and pick up of children is from outside the classroom and you maintain social distancing rules
Keep your children home if they are unwell
Communicate to your children through the Front Office Staff Reconciliation Week This year we have been a bit restricted in the activities we have been able to facilitate for Reconciliation Week due to Covid 19, however our classes have certainly recognised the occasion. We have had ‘Jetty Walks’, songs sung, rich discussions, canoes made, art produced and all of this interwoven with the theme of Reconciliation Week 2020 “We’re All In This Together” Virtual Cross Country We have been inventive with the ways we continue to interact and connect with other sites. This week our 5/6 class participated in the School Sports SA Virtual Cross Country event which is usually run collectively. It is great to see our athletes continuing to participate in these events. Governing Council Next week our Governing Council reconvene after an enforced break and will be meeting face to face again. Please contact a GC member if you have something to raise and look out on our website for the updated Governing Council handbook soon. Year 10 Roundtables This week Neil and Nicky have been meeting with each Year 10 student to chat about school life as it relates to them, their successes and how we can support them. We have been highly impressed with the conversations to date and look forward to those still to come. Site Improvement Plan All teaching staff have been focussed on their improvement journey and currently conducting ‘sprints’ on our Reading Comprehension goal. Leadership have been in classes observing the explicit teaching and learning cycles focussing on the impact upon student learning outcomes. Congratulations Congratulations to the following Primary students who were recognised during Week 4 for displaying the Learning Dispositions of Grit, Resilience and Self-Regulation.

On Friday the 29
th of May I organised and ran a casual clothes day. This year one of my subjects is
Community Studies, a lesson dedicated to involving myself and others around me in the Community. For my major assignment, I was tasked with creating 3 mosaics that will be placed around the school. My goal with this was to include students and to give them something Art based to be involved in. Due to the materials needed being a little out of budget I decided to organise a fundraiser to help attract funds. This was also a great way to give us students a break from school uniform. The theme was Pyjamas and casual clothes and it turned out to be a pretty good day! Nearly everyone from each class came dressed in their comfiest pyjamas and casual clothes. We managed to raise $227 which will go towards materials and help to cover the cost of making the mosaics. Overall, it was a fantastic day and an even better fundraiser. Thank you to every parent, staff member and student for donating and I can’t wait to reveal the mosaics when they are finished.

PROGRAMMING — My Time, Our Place As we listen and talk with children we gain insights into interactions, experiences, activities, routines, events and spontaneous times that occur in their lives. Our program grows from these conversations as we foster their wellbeing, development and collaborate with children to learn together. We would like to acknowledge the special nights that children arrange and below is a glimpse of these nights this
week. We endeavour to inform families what is planned on these nights through a text, email or by displaying the program on our OSHC door or advertising in the School Newsletter.
Our program supports the National Quality Agenda Framework for School Age Care, which is designed to inspire conversations, improve communication and provide a common language about children’s play, leisure and learning among themselves and this gives us all an insight into their social play and
developing friendships at OSHC
