Conference Theme: Reinventing Libraries for the Future: Innovations, Trends and Technologies

The new emerging information and communication technologies and changing user needs and expectations have made the Library and Information Science Professionals to rethink about their roles, perspectives, strategies and futuristic options for making the Library profession as a promising and exciting profession to work. In order to meet the growing challenges, the professionals have to hone their skill-sets with best competencies in order to remain relevant for their users and institutions.

The new job roles are emerging now in libraries to meet the challenges of the changing information landscape. Librarians are now working as Embedded Librarians, Knowledge Managers, Internet Librarians, Information Scientists, Database Managers, Metadata Librarians, e-Learning Librarians and the LIS professionals have to prepare themselves for the future. The libraries are at the crossroads and the LIS professionals have to embrace the new technologies and trends and implement them in their libraries for the users. Libraries are encountering an identity crisis. Besides offering the traditional premises to users, the libraries are turning into vibrant spaces with greater community participation and activities. The implementation of latest technologies are taking the libraries to the newer heights. Though the future of the library has not yet been fully defined but certainly the possibilities seem infinite. We need to find the ways and means to reinvent the libraries for tomorrow, the libraries of the future.

thThe 18 National Convention on Knowledge, Library and Information Networking (NACLIN 2015) being organised from November 24-26, 2015 will discuss on how the libraries can be reengineered and reinvented with the introduction of emerging innovations, trends and technologies to become the Libraries of the Future.

The national convention is scheduled for three days. After the inauguration on 24th November 2015, tutorial will be conducted on the following topic:

The next two days will focus on various themes of the National Convention under the main theme Reinventing Libraries for the Future: Innovations, Trends and Technologies.

The various sub-themes of the National Convention are detailed below:

Submission of PapersOriginal papers on the above sub-themes or related themes are invited from professionals. The papers should be based on research surveys, case studies or action plans. Surveys on Internet use/E-Journals Usage in libraries will not be accepted. Papers should not normally exceed 5,000 words or 16 double-spaced pages, besides tables, diagrams, etc. Also, each paper should contain an abstract, upto ten keywords, body of the paper, conclusion and references. The abstract should state in about 150 words the sum and substance of the paper. The conclusion should include the recommendations made in the paper. The keywords which describe the main issues discussed should be given in alphabetical order. The paper should also contain the author's name, designation, organisation, address, telephone, fax, and E-mail address. All references should be presented according to the Chicago Manual of Style (http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_ citationguide.html). The following examples are cited from the Manual to ensure that the referencing model is strictly followed.

Gulbarga University, Kalaburagi established during September 1980 with a vision ‘Excellence in Higher Education, Empowerment through Knowledge, Inclusive Growth for Socio-Economic Change and Sustainable Development’ has carved a niche for itself in the world of learning. Indian Library Association, New Delhi and received “eINDIA Award

2011” for the Best ICT Enabled University at India’s Largest ICT

KALABURAGI (GULBARGA) – The Convention City

Kalaburagi (Gulbarga) City is well connected by Bus and Trains and nearest airport to reach Gulbarga is Hyderabad, just 220 km away and 613 km from Bangalore. Venue of the conference is about 10 km from Railway Station and Bus Stand. Climate would be around 18-25 degrees during the month of November, 2015.
