Whats New & GoodTTF Welcomes a Food Programme Co-ordinator &

    Volunteeer Programme Co-ordinator

Hello! I am writing to introduce myself as thenew Volunteer and Food Programme Co-ordinator for TTF. For those of you who dontyet know, I successfully tendered for bothpositions and signed my contracts with TTF onthe 22ndof October, 2013.

My professional background is mainly ineducation and training, and I was drawn to thework of TTF as I feel that I resonate with its aimof providing alternative positive solutions to the

local community amidst the challenges of

Remember the Food BankYou can now drop off food for the Moray Food Bank

in the BLUE BIN inside the TTF Centre. Whats

needed are non-perishable food items (tins, pasta,

etc), preferably those not high in sugar or salt.

Your donations will go to good use right here in Moray,

where over 200 users have been serviced in 2013.

Thanks to a grant from Moray CouncilsCommon Good Fund, TTF was able todecorate a number of the raised beds in theparking lot. (We call these Chatter Boxes, aspeople can chat as they view or work the

    plants.)

TTF brought in Kristy Puplett and her team tocreate a design that showed whats going on inthe soil roots, bugs, root vegetables, andwhatever else they could think of. We thoughtitd be an informative and fun way to showsome of what goes on under the soil surface.

The result is a fun and educational display, andwe now have the templates to do more

    painting in the future.Kristy Puplett,

    Jo Smithson and friends

show their creative and artistic flair with

their educational and colourful decoration of TTFs

    Chatter Boxes.

climate change and depleting fossil fuels. As wellas sustainability, I have a special interest in food, particularly food as medicine.

I have lived in Moray since 2009 and beenemployed in a variety of jobs from a local socialenterprise to Moray Councils CommunityLearning and Development team. I look forwardto meeting more of you soon!

    Opportunities

(continued from page 1, Lend a hand)

Our biggest need right now is with help in staffing

the Centre each day Tues-Sat.Can you volunteer for a

2-hour shift? The Centre will be mostly closed throughthe holidays, but well need help from mid Jan.

A few of the many ways to help:

    Help create flyers

Help write & distribute press releases

Help keep the Centre open and welcome visitors

Take part in an event or work day

Gardening (anything from weeding to hedge trimming)

And theres loads more. If theres something in

particular you want to do, please do let us know.

Interested? You can sign up at the Centre, or contact

    Andrea at [email protected].

Many ways to lend a hand Were catching our breath with fundraising, with theemphasis having shifted for the time being from

writing more grant applications to managing the

    funds weve received.

One important point to note is that while we have

quite a lot in restricted funds, those have to be spent

on particular projects. And we have virtually no

unrestricted funds. So your personal donations,

which are used for things like heating and theinternet, are still extremely helpful, and very much

    appreciated.

For the next few months there will be few if any

grant applications going out. Though if you have a

particular project that you would be happy to do the

fundraising for and do all the project management,

wed be happy to have a conversation about that.

There is no shortage of ideas, but person-power and

energy are limited at the moment. So for the time

being, we are focusing managing the funds that we

have worked so very hard over the last year to raise.

    -- Claralynn Nunamaker

    Update: Fundraising

(continued from page 1, Programme updates)

    VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

In the Volunteer Programme, we are

aiming to recruit new volunteers and

    also achieve the Volunteer Friendly

    Award.

We intend to have a Volunteer

    Recruitment Drive in January and/or

February, so please watch the website,

the TTF Facebook page, and your

    email inbox for more information.

At the moment we are busy with writing

forms and policies such as the Volunteer

    Registration Form, the Volunteer Policy

and more. Having robust policies in place

provides a good framework for all

    involved, providing clear boundaries for

when things go well and when they dont.

Whilst these documents are an integral part of ouraim to achieve the Volunteer Friendly Award,

    Youthful energy

abounded at the TTF Community Garden when Elgin Youth Cafs Delta

Force arrived in mid Nov. Eight volunteers took to vigorously turning the

huge pile of leaves in the Community Garden. -Photo by Kate Chandler,

they are equally important to both the organisationwho is hosting the volunteers as well as volunteers

    themselves.
