Course of Study for Tuba Micah Everett, DMA Assistant Professor of Low Brass University of Louisiana at Monroe Division of Music This listing is intended to provide a “general idea” of materials that students might expect to encounter during their tuba studies at ULM. It is neither a rigid formula nor an exhaustive listing. The methods listed first for each year will most likely be used in weekly lessons. Students will most likely study one or perhaps two solo works each semester, except when a degree recital is being prepared. The solo listings include representative works for each year, though works not on this list may be assigned—no attempt has been made to make this list entirely comprehensive. The works listed for all levels are of high quality, and advanced students should not hesitate to program “easier” works from earlier levels to compliment the more difficult works on a recital program. Orchestral excerpts will be emphasized for performance majors more than for non-performance majors, though all students can expect some exposure to this material. Course of Study for Tuba

Micah Everett, DMAAssistant Professor of Low Brass

University of Louisiana at Monroe Division of Music

This listing is intended to provide a “general idea” of materials that students might expect to encounter during their tuba studies at

ULM. It is neither a rigid formula nor an exhaustive listing. The methods listed first for each year will most likely be used in weekly

lessons. Students will most likely study one or perhaps two solo works each semester, except when a degree recital is being prepared.

The solo listings include representative works for each year, though works not on this list may be assigned—no attempt has been made

to make this list entirely comprehensive. The works listed for all levels are of high quality, and advanced students should not hesitateto program “easier” works from earlier levels to compliment the more difficult works on a recital program. Orchestral excerpts will be

emphasized for performance majors more than for non-performance majors, though all students can expect some exposure to this

material.
