VALLOUREC & SUMITOMO TUBOS DO BRASIL

SMS group erected a PQF® mill for the production of seamless tubes in

Jeceaba, in Brazil´s south-eastern state of Minas Gerais. VSB attached

great importance to an environmentally sound process chain. The PQF®

plant makes a valuable contribution to achieving this goal: The tool

consumption is comparatively low, and reduced reheating saves energy.

CORINTH PIPEWORKS

With the investment in a new large-diameter pipe production line, Corinth Pipeworks is expanding its product range in order to meet the growing global demand for tubes and pipes for oil and gas explo-ration. With the JCOE® technology from SMS group, Corinth Pipe-works can satisfy the high quality demands on high-strength pipes and is becoming one of the most advanced full-liners for extremely challenging applications.

ARVEDI TUBI ACCIAIO

Outstanding product quality, broad product range, high producti-

vity and plant reliability – those were the challenges thrown down

by the Italian pipe producer, Arvedi Tubi Acciaio. SMS group satis-

fi ed all these high demands and supplied a multifunctional tube

welding line for a broad range of quality tubes with widely varying

dimensions, steel grades and wall thicknesses.

TENARIS TAMSA

Tenaris is the world‘s largest seamless tube producer and

already operates eight seamless tube plants from SMS group.

With the new 7" PQF® mill, Tenaris is not only increasing

LARGE-DIAMETER PIPE

PLANTS 16" – 64"

There are three production methods for the manu-facture of high-quality longitudinally welded large-diameter pipes such as those used for pipelines; these methods take their names from the pipe form-ing process employed: 3-roll bending machines, U-ing and O-ing presses and JCO® pipe forming presses. SMS group offers all three types of machine. The Shape technology system permits efficient and auto-mated forming on the JCO® pipe forming press.

SPIRAL TUBE PLANTS

PWS GmbH, a part of SMS group, is the world‘s lead-ing plant and machine engineering company for spiral tube production. PWS manufactures every spiral tube plant to meet the customer‘s specifications in order to meet the individual needs of each customer. This covers tube specifications i.a. to API, AWWA, BS, JIS, SIS, ASTM and DIN. The spiral tube production of pil-ings, water pipes (AWWA), oil and gas pipes (API), for tube diameters from 400 to 2540 mm and wall thick-nesses from around 5 mm to over 25 mm allows a broad segment of the market to be covered. With its digital welding source, PERFECT® arc, PWS supplies not only the machines but also an intelligent welding technology.

FINISHING PLANTS AND MACHINES

As world market leader, SMS group also offers com-plete lines and individual machines for the finishing of seamless and welded tubes and pipes. The spectrum of finishing lines ranges from hydrostatic pipe testers that satisfy all the common certification methods, through pipe end finishing machines for facing, cham-fering, upsetting or thread cutting right up to high-performance milling and cut-off units. Roll and die dressing machines complete the product range.

In a continuous process, tubes are produced from coiled steel strip. The coils are unwound and welded together to form a continuous strip. In the subsequent processes and at a constant process speed, the strip is formed into tubes, welded longitudinally using the inductive HF welding process, sized and cut into finished tube lengths.
