_____________
October 13 - Day 1 San Miguel de Tucumán – Cafayate, Salta
Distance: 227 km / 141 mi
Biking: 19 miles decent
Note: You must arrive in Tucumàn on October 12. See Day 0.
We begin in the State of Tucumán and travel in style to Salta.
On our way, we visit “El Indio” monument and “El Moyar”. In a setting of
valleys and ravines that relaxes the senses, we take a walk along the
Archaeological Reserve “Los Menhires” and witness the 50 types of rocks
dating back more than 2000 years (from the beginning of the Christian era)
- that rise to 3 meters high!
The "Infiernillo" is a geographical area between the valleys of Tafí
(Tucumán) and Yokavil (Tucumán, Salta and Catamarca) where there is an
amazing view of the valleys at 3,042 MASL/9,982’.
The gateway to the “Cumbres Calchaquíes Provincial Park”, which is located
to the north, has mountains up to 4,800 meters high, such as "Cerro
Negrito" and "Lagunas de Huacahuasi" reserve.
From "El Infiernillo" 3,042 M.A.S.L. to "Amaicha del Valle" 1,996 M.A.S.L.
we ride mountain bikes, descending 19 miles through incredible landscapes.
We also visit the "Ruinas de Quilmes" an archaeological site. This is the
largest pre-Columbian settlement in the country, occupying around 30
hectare. The area dates back to 850 AD and was habited by the Quilmes
Indians. It is believed that an average of 5,000 people lived here during its
height.
Cafayate is the last stop for the day.
October 14 - Day 2 Cafayate all day
Day trip: 30 km / 19 mi
Hiking & Biking – easy
Only 10 kilometers from the city of Cafayate, we will arrive to the Colorado
River Springs, "Cascadas del Río Colorado". We hike in this wonderful

Next, we visit the Wine Museum and then ride a bike through the vineyards.
To finish an amazing day full adventures a very special dinner awaits us
with folkloric music at "Una Peña.”
October 15 - Day 3 Cafayate – Salta
Day trip: 197 km / 123 mi
Bungee jumping – optional
North of Cafayate, Salta`s road heads through the spectacular “Quebrada de
Cafayate”, a wild landscape, richly colored sandstone and unearthly rock
formations like The Obelisk, "El Obelisco," and The Devil's Throat, "La
Garganta del Diablo.”
Carved out by the “Río las Conchas”, the canyon’s twisted sedimentary
strata exhibit a stunning array of tones, from rich red ocher to ethereal
green.
You will get a visual feast from the road itself; it’s one of the country’s more
memorable rides.
After lunch at “Al Cabra Corral” dam, we can experience a rush of
adrenaline like never before, bungee jumping from a height of
approximately 40 meters and dipping headfirst into the dam's water
(optional) while bouncing back and forth and taking in the awe-inspiring
natural surroundings, full of dazzling waters and green islands.
As you slow down, you'll be lowered onto a boat, which will take you safely
back to the shore.
The end of our journey brings us to Salta. “Balance” street, that runs south
from Salta’s train station, has a large concentration of restaurants and bars,
were we try the local beer and taste the northern food.
A traditional dinner waits for us in a restaurant with live music to celebrate
the end of an amazing journey.
