APMCC Shradanjali to martyrs at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. APMCC pays tributes to martyrs Excelsior Correspondent NEW DELHI, Apr 18: All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) supported by JFKPS organized a unique ‘Shradhanjali’ ceremony at Jantar Mantar and India Gate (Amar Jawan Jyoti) on Sunday evening to pay tributes to the security forces who have laid down their lives in the line of duty while protecting mother- land in terror infested Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative was taken by APMCC, pay homage to the martyrs who sacrifice their lives to protect India from enemies at borders and within Jammu and Kashmir since eruption of ter- rorism in Kashmir Valley. APMCC chairman Vinod Pandit had brought blood soaked soil from the recent Pampore encounter site where recently Indian jawans were martyred to offer floral tributes collectively as a mark of respect for the sacrifices of martyrs. But unfortunately the officials did not allow spreading of soil at Amar Jawan Jyoti, hurting the sentiments of peace loving citi- zens and organizers. The colourful event at Jantar Mantar today was marked by devotional songs by school chil- dren of D.D Blessings School, under the guidance of Anil Takker, chairman of the school. Paying floral tributes on the occasion were Vinod Pandit, Ravinder Pandita, Head of APMCC Delhi-NCR region, Kamal Kishore Sharma Head of JFKPS, King C Bharati, Senior Journalist & National Spokesperson of APMCC and other ex-servicemen and activists of the organization. Ravinder Pandita said that the culmination of the month long event was to place the blood soaked soil at Amar jawan Jyoti as a mark of respect to our soldiers. King C Bharati, informed that the soil was brought as a symbol of sacrifice of our secu- rity forces to protect the mother- land and send a message across the nation and to the families of the martyrs that Indians were united when it comes to nation- alism and gratitude for our mar- tyrs. Prominent among those who attended the function included Parvesh Chowdhary of Akhand Bharat Morcha, Sant Bharti of Sathi Sangathan, Kamal Kumar Jain of Bhartiya Paksh, Pradeep Pandita, Vinod Koul, Pushpinder Kalsotra, senior journalist, Rakesh Dhar, Avtar K Tickoo, Lalit Razdan, Chairman AAA, Yajin Bhat, Manish Zijoo, Veena Pandita, Ravi Regu, Vishal Ji, Raju Kak, BL Wanchoo, Ajay Lidhoo (Shalimar Garden Association), Amit Raina, Des Raj and others. Govt hopeful of NIA visit to Pak NEW DELHI, Apr 18: Amid thaw in Indo-Pak relations, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today said the Government was hopeful a team of National Investigation Agency will soon visit the neighbouring country to gather evidence in connection with the Pathankot terror attack. “We are hopeful that a team of NIA will visit Pakistan soon,” the Minister of State for Home said. Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit had indicated last fortnight that Indian investigators may not be allowed to visit Pakistan to pursue the probe in connection with the Pathankot attack. However, India countered it by saying that before the visit of a Pakistani Joint Investigation Team here last month, both sides had agreed that it would be on the basis of reciprocity. Official sources said Pakistan has backtracked from its promise to allow the Indian team’s visit there to probe the January 2 Pathankot terror attack case apparently after finding that NIA has enough evidence to nail ISI’s links with terrorists involved in it. Basit had also said that at present the peace process between India and Pakistan is “suspended”. (PTI) Under fire for 'selfie' act, Pankaja Munde hits back at Oppn MUMBAI, Apr 18: Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde today came under attack from ruling ally Shiv Sena as well as the opposition for clicking self- ies while on a visit to drought-hit Marathwada, but she defended herself saying she took pictures out of elation on seeing water in a trench in the dried up river. Munde, who is Rural Development minister, came under the line of fire from across the political spectrum for clicking self- ies while she was at a village in drought hit Latur yesterday, for reviewing the desilting work in Manjara river, which has nearly dried up. While the Shiv Sena took pot-shots at Munde saying that such photo sessions could have been avoided, the Opposition Congress and the NCP said that she has mocked the drought- affected farmers by such a "shameful act." Undeterred by the attack, Munde said it was out of "content- ment" of seeing water in the trench due to the desliting work that she took selfies. "I have taken several review meetings on the drought condi- tion in Latur. Have made efforts to dig trenches at various places so that water could be fetched from them. But met with failure most of the times. Yesterday, while I was in Latur to take stock of the Manjara river, I saw some water which gave me a feeling of contentment," Munde said in a statement issued here. "It was like finding an oasis in a desert for me. By levelling false allegations on me, who are these people trying to help, drought hit villagers or farmers? These pic- tures were clicked in the heat of 45 degrees C to show my appre- ciation for the work my depart- ment has done. There was no excitement in it, only content- ment," she added. Munde's 'selfie moments' did not go down well with the Sena, which said on the one hand women are the worst sufferers of the drought and on the other, a woman minister is seen happily clicking selfies in a parched area.(PTI)

Govt hopeful of NIA visit to PakNEW DELHI, Apr 18:

Amid thaw in Indo-Pak relations, Union Minister Kiren Rijijutoday said the Government was hopeful a team of NationalInvestigation Agency will soon visit the neighbouring country togather evidence in connection with the Pathankot terror attack.

“We are hopeful that a team of NIA will visit Pakistan soon,”the Minister of State for Home said.

Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit had indicated lastfortnight that Indian investigators may not be allowed to visitPakistan to pursue the probe in connection with the Pathankotattack.

However, India countered it by saying that before the visit of aPakistani Joint Investigation Team here last month, both sides hadagreed that it would be on the basis of reciprocity.

Official sources said Pakistan has backtracked from its promiseto allow the Indian team’s visit there to probe the January 2Pathankot terror attack case apparently after finding that NIA hasenough evidence to nail ISI’s links with terrorists involved in it.

Basit had also said that at present the peace process betweenIndia and Pakistan is “suspended”. (PTI)

Under fire for 'selfie' act, Pankaja Munde hits back at Oppn

MUMBAI, Apr 18:

Maharashtra Minister PankajaMunde today came under attackfrom ruling ally Shiv Sena as wellas the opposition for clicking self-ies while on a visit to drought-hitMarathwada, but she defendedherself saying she took pictures outof elation on seeing water in atrench in the dried up river.

Munde, who is RuralDevelopment minister, came underthe line of fire from across thepolitical spectrum for clicking self-ies while she was at a village indrought hit Latur yesterday, forreviewing the desilting work inManjara river, which has nearlydried up.

While the Shiv Sena tookpot-shots at Munde saying thatsuch photo sessions could havebeen avoided, the OppositionCongress and the NCP said thatshe has mocked the drought-affected farmers by such a"shameful act."

Undeterred by the attack,Munde said it was out of "content-ment" of seeing water in the trenchdue to the desliting work that she

took selfies."I have taken several review

meetings on the drought condi-tion in Latur. Have made effortsto dig trenches at various placesso that water could be fetchedfrom them. But met with failuremost of the times. Yesterday, while I was in Latur to take stockof the Manjara river, I saw somewater which gave me a feeling ofcontentment," Munde said in astatement issued here.

"It was like finding an oasis ina desert for me. By levelling falseallegations on me, who are thesepeople trying to help, drought hitvillagers or farmers? These pic-tures were clicked in the heat of45 degrees C to show my appre-ciation for the work my depart-ment has done. There was noexcitement in it, only content-ment," she added.

Munde's 'selfie moments' didnot go down well with the Sena, which said on the one handwomen are the worst sufferers ofthe drought and on the other, awoman minister is seen happilyclicking selfies in a parchedarea.(PTI)
