Teacher, etc. • Put yourself in Auggie’s shoes: What would you do?• What do you think of this novel. If you haven’t read it

yet, what do you think will happen? • Draw an image that relates to the novel and explain in

writing. • DON’T LET THE PENCIL STOP!

We feel all alone, small & weakScared to go out even to speakThe things they say, the things they doWould you like it, if it were you?These are fools we don’t understandSo let’s get together & fight our standUnite today & show we’re strongFor we’re the innocent, we’ve done no wrong.

Today they called me stupidThey said I had no brain.They sneered at me.They jeered at me.And stared with such disdain.

But…

I lie in bed tonight.As happy as a clam.Because you see,Or do you see?I know just who I am.

Tonight I am a dragon-slayer,The greatest anywhere.I hunt the beast.I find the beast,Asleep within its lair.

Today they grabbed my lunch.They tore at my nice new shirt.They laughed at me.They spat at me.And made me eat some dirt.

But …

Tonight I am a hockey star.Whom no one can defeatI stop the puckI hit the puckThe crowd is on its feet.

Today they wanted money,Or swore they’d hurt my brother.I gave them it.Yes, all of it.And still they hurt my brother.

But …

Tonight I am a mountain climber,Just starting my ascent.I’m climbing high,So very high.I swear I won’t relent.

Tomorrow is another day.I’ll have to face their schemes,Their pranks, their tricks,Their slaps and kicks

For now …

Please reflect on the poems by doing

2. Do a short reflection on one of the above poems. What do they feel like the author was trying to get across with this poem? What do they take away from reading this poem?

Illustrating Character Traits

Gregarious:One who is friendly, sociable, or likes company.

A gregarious character might shake hands with new people they meet.

Illustrated Characteristic Ex:Katniss from Hunger Games:

Courageous

Katniss was very courageous when she decided to give the 3-finger salute after Rue died. This showed her rebellion to the city and made a statement to the rest of the districts.
