EVACUATION DRILL On Friday 22nd of February we held our evacuation drill to practise leaving the school buildings in a safe and orderly manner to our oval. The staff and students completed the drill in an excellent manner ensuring that all were safe and accounted for. FEEDBACK FROM PARENTS Thank you to those parents who have written or spoken to me in such a positive manner about our school and their child’s enjoyment in coming to school each day. Families new to the school have commented on the rigour of the learning, the dedication of the teachers and focus on values education. STUDENT LEADERS BADGE PRESENTATION AT ASSEMBLY - MONDAY 18TH OF MARCH We have completed the process of selecting our student leaders for School Captains, House Captains, Specialist Leaders and Student Representative Council (SRC). At assembly on Monday 18th of March we will have a guest speaker and the presentation of the badges to the student leaders. BRAINSTORM PRODUCTIONS: THE HUMAN RACE
The main messages from this production were all humans:
have feelings have hopes and dreams wish to be accepted for who we are celebrate our differences
encourage resilience
This production was an important part of our Wellbeing program building the skills of empathy, gratitude, respect and resilience in our students. Please ask your child what they
learnt from ‘The Human Race’.
THE VALUE WE ARE FOCUSING ON THIS TERM FROM OUR 4 SCHOOL VALUES IS: RELATIONSHIPS.
Each week students will be looking at a related quality or
value that supports relationship building.
The Supporting Value of the Week is Helpfulness
This week students are concentrating on the value of helpfulness. We wish to instil in our students the feeling of empathy towards others. Helpfulness is about assisting others and showing you are willing to help out at home, school or
with friends.
GOOD FRIDAY APPEAL FOR THE ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
One of the first charity fundraisers for this year is supporting the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital. The Good Friday Appeal is during the school holidays on Friday 19th of April. This is a great way for our students to give a helping hand supporting children who are undergoing medical treatment in hospital. We have a number of our students who have medical conditions who are supported by
the work done at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
On Friday 29th of March students can have free dress day
with crazy hair or hat for a gold coin donation. The SRC
leaders will be
collecting the money
for us to send to the
Appeal

BOOK FAIR
Starting the week of Monday March 18th Tulliallan Primary School will be holding their 2019 Book Fair. The Book Fair will be held in the Administration Resource Centre and will be open each morning at 8.30am and then after school until 4.00pm. Families are invited to attend the Book Fair to purchase books for their children. Any sales that are made gives the school a 30% rebate for us to purchase more books for the Learning Communities. We look forward to your
support of the Book Fair.
BOOK CLUB
Thank you to the families that purchased books through Book
Club. All books have now arrived at school and have been distributed. If you have not received your book, please speak
with your child’s teacher.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
School photos for all students will be conducted on Thursday March 28th. All children will have a home room and individual photo taken. If you wish to have a family photo done with only children that attend Tulliallan Primary School, there will be a separate form where you can request that. Forms for photos will be distributed very soon; a
variety of packages are available.
Have a lovely long weekend

REQUEST FOR BUCKETS
To reduce our water waste, students in the Green Team have been conducting water
audits this term.
To help save water that would otherwise go down the drain, we are looking for
donations of clean, empty, plastic buckets to place underneath the drink taps. These
could be old ice-cream or yoghurt containers.
Students will use water collected to water plants and clean compost buckets. If you
have any spare, could you please donate to Miss Webb (4C) or Miss Lane (PH).
Thank you!
Friday 15th March is The National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence. It is a day for schools, students and the community to say “Bullying NO WAY”.
On this day all students will receive an ORANGE ribbon that signifies harmony and acceptance of all. Below is a parent link that addresses questions and provides strategies which may be of use.

Don’t forget to label your children’s school hats and jumpers so any misplaced items can be returned to them.
School finishes at 3.20pm and children must be collected promptly. If you are running late due to unforeseen circumstances please call the office on 8766 3100 to let us know.
Lunches - it is important that your child remembers to bring their lunch to school in the morning, children can get quite
distressed when they find out they have forgotten their lunchbox.
If you are having trouble logging onto Compass please call the office so we can assist you.
Please remember that we do not keep any change in the office. If you are sending cash in with your child, please put it in an envelope or zip lock bag together with the consent/payment slip.
REMINDERS FROM THE OFFICE
WHO IS TALLER?
This week the Prep Learning Community have been focusing
on measurement, in particular length. Students used icy pole sticks to measure how long they were and built towers using unifix cubes. The students compared their lengths using vocabulary such as taller, shorter and longer.
Tulliallan Primary School’s
Water Saving Tips
At Tulliallan Primary School,
we are working on ways to
save water, which include
turning off the taps,
checking for leaks, using a
reusable water bottle and
collecting water in buckets
to water the plants and
rinse our compost bins.
The Green Team have also
come up with tips that you
can try at home.
Let’s become more water
wise together!
