International Exchange

Keeping the Balance – some Guidelines
1. Interplay of research and structure: focus on individual research – no 3rd
study cycle
2. Lean, but rich program: driven by opportunities, not by obligations
3. Subsidiarity: disciplinary and trans-disciplinary variety under one common program and process umbrella
4. Quality management: an important tool, but not the target!
5. IT-based program management: DocGS increases efficiency and acceptance
6. Go international: for talents, for partnerships, for perspectives
7. Interdisciplinarity: not a marketing issue, but a core flavor of modern research
8. Diversity of doctoral pathways: assistant / project / scholarship / external / private
9. Collaborations – including the UAS’: much more a chance than a threat
10.Purpose of a doctorate: discover the undiscovered, get prepared for a variety of career paths
