October 2015 General Manager – SCL MTR Corporation The hard work and efforts of the Project team over the past 3 years have brought the SCL Kowloon City Section to a new stage. TBM “Princess Wencheng”, which started boring the down-track tunnel from To Kwa Wan Station to Ho Man Tin Station in April, has reached Ma Tau Wai Station. The other TBM “Princess Iron Fan” started excavation works for the up-track tunnel in September. Following the completion of the roof slab construction of Ma Tau Wai Station, station excavation and construction of the concourse have commenced. Meanwhile, the construction of station entrances at Kiang Su Street and Lok Shan Road will kick off soon, representing another stride forward for the SCL works in the district. The SCL project has been fully supported by the community since the commencement of works in 2012. Despite of the challenges and difficulties ahead, we will deliver the project with our greatest effort. The precast segmental tunnel wall is installed continuously as the TBM bores. Posters and magnets with the enquiry hotline for tunnelling works were distributed to residents of Kowloon City. Construction of Stations and Entrances of Kowloon City Section
SCL works in Kowloon City have advanced to a new stage. Construction of Ma Tau Wai Station and To Kwa Wan Station are in full swing with excavation works of both stations in progress. The construction of entrances and adits have also commenced in phases.
The major structural works of Kai Tak Station have been completed. The structural works for two adits connecting the station entrances are in progress. Architectural works, electrical and mechanical works, and track laying works are underway inside the station.
To facilitate pipe piling works for the station entrance, the works site has been shifted to the western side of Nam Kok Road.
Excavation works for To Kwa Wan Station are in full swing.
Excavation works for the adit connecting the Nam Kok Road Entrance to To Kwa Wan Station are underway .
Enhancement works for the pedestrian subway are in progress at the rest garden of Prince Edward Road West near Katherine Building.
Foundation works for Ma Tau Wai Station entrance will be carried out at Lok Shan Road. The section of Lok Shan Road between Maidstone Road and Ma Tau Wai Road will be temporarily closed, while the traffic lane of the section of Kiang Su Street between Maidstone Road and Ma Tau Wai Road will be re-opened. The footpath at Lok Shan Road and Kiang Su Street remains open.
Silos at the Chi Kiang Street Playground works site have been relocated to vacate an area for construction of Ma Tau Wai Station and the entrance.
The temporary traffic management arrangement continues at Ma Tau Wai Road to facilitate station excavation. The southbound bus and minibus stops outside To Kwa Wan Market have been relocated near S.K.H. Good Shepherd Primary School and ELCHK Hung Hom Lutheran Primary School.
Station excavation and the construction of the concourse of Ma Tau Wai Station commenced in July. Underground works will be extended from 7pm to 11pm from Mondays to Saturdays and carried out from 7am to 11pm on Sundays and General Holidays if necessary.
Excavation of the Emergency Egress Point at Ma Tau Wai Road/San Shan Road Amenity Plot has proceeded to the upper track level.

Kai Tak Station was topped out on 16 July 2015. Representatives from the Projects Team, members of local community and working partners attended the topping out ceremony to celebrate this remarkable milestone for the SCL project.
Guests gathered for the Bai Sun Ceremony to pray for smooth progress of the works.
The Projects Team visited senior citizens at the Buddhist Ho Wong Cheong Po Neighbourhood Elderly Centre. The team did exercises with the elders and spent a great Dragon Boat Festival together.
The Projects Team distributed mooncakes to shops at To Kwa Wan Market as a token of gratitude and shared the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Other than communicating about the SCL works, the Projects team also shares the festive joy with the community during major holidays. This year, the Projects team visited the community to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival.
