Turning Jewels Into Water – the live electronic duo led by Indian-born drummer/producer Ravish Momin along with Haitian electronic percussionist Val Jeanty – will release their debut album, Map of Absences, on March 15th via FPE Records. They previously shared lead single “Dark waters rushing in” via Resident Advisor. The track “unites the beat-wise languages of the Black Atlantic and the South Asian subcontinent inside the shared hard-drive of studious art-schoolers, daring the thoughtful listener with what can fairly be called a new normal, not to giving a shit about colonialist norms,” [Afropunk]. Today, they share a remix for “Dark waters rushing in” by ascendant producer Slikback, who comes heartily recommended by the crew that operates the Kampala, Uganda-based Nyege Nyege Tapes record label.
