Introduction about ‘Plagiarism’
▪ Plagiarism is an issue of research misconduct in academic and research activities.
Plagiarism check and avoidance have been of greater concern in academics,
publications, higher institutions, writers, etc.
▪ The word ‘plagiarize’ comes from the Latin word – “Plagiare” means to kidnap
(Oxford English Dictionary).
▪ Use of ‘Plagiarius’ word into English was introduced by Dramatist ‘Ben Jonson’ in
1601 in England.
▪ Plagiarism is an unethical act or practice of presenting that another person’s work is
your own.
▪ Plagiarism is copying words/ texts from any source of information without proper
citation. Stealing or borrowing content without mentioning or citing the source in a
research article is also a kind of plagiarism.

▪ There are many software in the market to check plagiarism.
Some of these are –
▪ Proprietary software- Urkund, Turnitin, iThenticate, etc.
▪ Free software- Viper, Plagiarism Checker X, DupliChecker, etc.
▪ Plagiarism checkers have numerous advantages for students and
research scholars.
▪ Choosing a reliable and effective plagiarism checker is vital to
ensure that your content is free from plagiarism.

software because of many reasons.

Red: 75-100% matching text
