IN GOOD SHAPE

Easing the Pain Many people experience headaches during an infection, after a hard day at work or a night out on the town. But some people suffer more or less constant headaches. The German Migraine and Headache Society says it’s a situation affecting some eight million people in Germany. Worldwide, it’s thought a billion people suffer from migraines. Then there are those who get cluster and tension headaches, among them children. It can be risky to treat headaches with pills. But how can those affected escape the ordeal – preferably without painkillers? Can hot water bottles, physiotherapy and relaxation exercises help? In Good Shape presenter Carsten Lekutat discusses the issue with Prof. Dr. Uwe Reuter, who leads a clinic for migraine patients at Berlin’s Charité Hospital.
