Welcome to Holy Family! This is Parish County Fair Weekend, and we are hoping that you can take advantage of it and stop by to enjoy fun and fellowship. Know that you are welcome! Look at page 4 for details.
This Thursday is ALL SAINTS DAY, November 1st. This is a holy day of obligation.
We will have our regular holy day schedule with Masses at 6:30 AM, 8 AM, 10 AM (Schools), 12:15 PM, 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM (Spanish). The next day is Friday, November 2nd and the church celebrates ALL SOULS DAY on that day with our regular 6:30 AM, 8 AM and 5:30 PM Mass schedule. (This is not a holy day of obligation.) Please keep in mind that we will be celebrating our special annual All Souls Mass for all the deceased, especially those who have died in the last 12 months, at the Saturday, November 3rd 5:30 PM Mass.

annual Life Teen retreat is November 9-11 at Camp Mt. Crags in Calabasas/Malibu. Don’t miss out!
Please remember to bring non-perishable food items next week for our monthly

TOGETHER IN MISSION UPDATE
Our parish commitment weekend and follow up weekend was completed in February. The pledges we have received so far is $121,483. The amount paid is $90,832.16. Please make your pledged payment on or before the end of October 2018. Out of our 4900 registered families, 626 have made a pledge or payment. If you would like to make a commitment but have not yet done so, please come to the parish office. You may also make your pledge on line at OurMissionLA.org.
NEXT WEEKEND IS OUR FOOD COLLECTION DRIVE
Every month we collect non-perishable food items for the homeless and needy families in Glendale. This is always done the first weekend of the month. You can bring your food items on November 3 and 4. Please bring your items before Mass in a bag to the courtyard of charity food drive table.

All Souls Day Mass Saturday, November 3rd
5:30 PM Mass If you know someone who has entered Eternal Life since November 1, 2017 to October 26, 2018 come and join with others in praying for the soul of this person. Leave the name at 818-247-2222 x220 of your departed one if he/she was buried elsewhere than from our church. Names received after October 26th will not be included. The names will be read aloud at the Prayers of the Faithful. You may walk in the Entrance Procession with your dear one’s picture at this All Souls Day Mass (8x10 or smaller, free-standing if possible).
In the pews also please find All Souls Day envelopes. You can list your loved ones who have died at any point in the past and we will include them in all of our November Masses.

NATIONAL VOCATION AWARENESS WEEK November 4-10, 2018
National Vocation Awareness Week is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promote vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.
Holy Family Glendale in cooperation with the Vocations Committee and Serra Club of Pasadena has provided “Fostering Vocations” bookmark prayer card in the Hymnal books by the pew.
Please take a moment to use this bookmark to pray for vocations and you are also welcomed to take the book-mark home with you to pray.

LA ESPERANZA Y PROMESA DE REDENCIÓN
El profeta Jeremías anuncia el fin del exilio en Babilonia. Describe cómo los débiles y los tristes ahora regresarán con alegría. Éste es el pueblo dispersado de Dios: los ciegos y cojos; preñadas y paridas. Serán guiados por un camino llano para que nadie tropiece. La bondad y misericordia del Señor están con este pueblo débil y deshecho.
Aquí y en el Salmo 126 (125) encontramos imágenes poéticas extremadamente hermosas del amor y cuidado que Dios tiene por nosotros. “Los que sembraban con lágrimas, / cosechan entre cantares. Al ir, iba llorando, / llevando la semilla; / al volver, vuelve cantando, / trayendo sus gavillas” (Salmo 126[125]:5-6). Si bien Dios tuvo que castigar a Israel por sus muchos pecados, nunca se olvidó de ellos aun cuando estaban dispersos, y los llevó de regreso a la tierra de sus ancestros para que prosperaran y fueran felices de nuevo.
