about

Compared to all other golf equipment companies, Tom Wishon Golf Technology is a very different company.

We’re not like any of the companies whose golf clubs you see selling in standard form, off the rack, in retail golf stores, pro shops and over the internet. We believe all golf clubs should be custom fit to match each one of the 13 different custom fitting specifications to each golfer’s unique combination of size, strength, athletic ability and swing characteristics.

We’re also not like any of the companies who sell components. We develop and design every one of our original clubhead, shaft and grip models. From our vast experience in golf club R&D, we possess a far deeper understanding of golf club and fitting performance which we openly share with clubmakers. We are also the only company actively promoting the benefits of custom fitting to consumer golfers.

TWGT is committed to creating the highest performing, most innovative clubhead, shaft, and grip designs, backed by the best technical information in the golf industry, to support custom clubmakers who are committed to offering their golfers the very best in professionally custom fit golf clubs.

TWGT is proud of our skills and knowledge in golf equipment design and clubfitting technology which continues to achieve a high level of respect in the world golf industry.

• More than 60 different golf equipment and golf club technology firsts in clubhead design, shaft design, and clubfitting technology.

• The only designer from the custom clubmaking industry whose original clubhead designs have been used to win on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and in Ryder Cup competition.

• Author of 9 books and hundreds of magazine articles about golf equipment technology and professional clubfitting. Two of our books have won the prestigious “Golf Book of the Year” award from the ING, the golf industry’s largest association of golf media professionals.

• Advisor in golf equipment and clubfitting technology for the professional training programs for numerous PGA organizations

around the world. When some of the major PGA’s in the world want their member professionals to know the truth about golf equipment and clubfitting, they come to TWGT.

• TWGT remains the only supplier of clubheads, shafts and grips to clubmakers who continues to make the effort to promote the benefits of professional clubfitting to consumer golfers. We support custom clubmakers to give them tools to grow their businesses more than any other company.

With the release of our books, The Search for the Perfect Golf Club, The Search for the Perfect Driver, The Right Sticks, and 12 Myths That Could Wreck Your Golf Game, TWGT continues to make golfers aware of the facts of life about their golf clubs – that professionally custom fit golf clubs are the only way any golfer can hope to play to the best of their ability. Clubmakers who use these books to educate their golfers are experiencing an increase in their fitting business.

If you’re not working with TWGT as your clubmaking supplier and clubfitting advisor, you’re missing an opportunity to increase your business by delivering the best performing golf clubs to golfers.

as we said, tWGt is a very different golf company.

putter grips

A new and exciting trend in putter fitting is the use of heavy counter weights in the end of the putter grip to smooth out the golfer’s takeaway to create a much more consistent and accurate stroke through the ball. For golfers who mis-hit putts and suffer from overall inconsistency of accuracy and distance, using one of TWGT’s 60g, 80g or 100g counterweights can deliver real putting improvement.

The key putter fitting elements are Length, Loft, Lie, Weighting, and Grip Style/Size.

Putter Length– When the golfer assumes their most comfortable stance over the putt, the proper length is achieved when the golfer’s arms are extended and relaxed but not to the point of having to reach or stretch the arms to grip the putter.

Putter Loft– The more the hands/grip is ahead of the ball position at impact, the higher the putter loft needs to be to ensure a consistent roll. As a general rule, hands ahead of the ball = 5-6° loft; hands in line with the ball = 4° loft; hands behind the ball at impact = 2-3° loft.

Putter Lie– The putter hosel or shaft must be bent so the putter always sits dead in the center of the sole from heel to toe in the address and impact position.

Putter Weighting– Putting is so unique for each golfer in technique and feel that experimentation with different amounts of headweight AND grip butt weighting is often required to find that overall best combination of weighting to keep the putter

steady, controlled and at consistent speed through the ball.

Putter Grip Style/Size– Again, each golfer has to experiment and find the style and size of grip that keeps the hands relaxed but secure and allows a smooth, consistent stroke through the ball.

“Dear Tom and TWGT Staff, Many thanks for your great customer service and your great products. The people and products of TWGT never ceases to amaze.”

– Mark Sparks, [email protected]

“I recently was fitted for a set of 770CFE irons. I found the nearest company was Two Rivers Golf near Sacramento, Calif. Anyway, I love the clubs and getting fit by professionals is a much smarter way to buy clubs. Scott and Jim at Two Rivers Golf made the experience for me and my friend Dennis worthwhile. We drove from Utah to Sacramento just for the experience. The quality of the Wishon brand is awesome. We have the clubs, bag, hats and so we will be walking/playing advertisements for your great product.

Oh by the way, loved reading your book, ‘The Search for the Perfect Golf Club’”.

– Sincerely, Ray

“Tom Wishon is one of the golf industry’s most prolific designers. In the past two decades, he’s fashioned literally hundreds of head designs during stints at Golfsmith and Dynacraft. Firms like these made their mark selling components—heads, shafts and grips—to custom club makers and some club maker wannabes.

These days Wishon runs his own company, Tom Wishon Golf Technology (TWGT). His latest iron head, 560MC Forged Carbon Steel, is a forged cavity back with built-in game-improvement properties. Wishon is proud as a papa because, he says, it is the first forged carbon steel iron with the entire back cavity made by CNC machining. Most forged cavity back irons squeeze carbon steel out of the way to form a cavity. But Wishon mills the back of the head to produce a deeper cavity with more weight around it. The payoff is a higher moment of inertia or, in lay terms, a better result for off-center hits. It’s a clever way to deliver a more forgiving forged iron.”
