OUT VISITING: Twirlers visited Cowtown Singles on July 21st. Earlean Wagner, Chris Burns, Muriel Greenwood, Dale Houser, David and Merrie Ann Franks, and Jackie Brown all agreed that Rod Shuping called a great dance. This was a good turn out for the Twirl-ers. Hope to see YOU at our August visitations. Remember, if we go visit-ing, other Clubs will visit us. Twirlers Valerie & Mike Perkins and Bob & Carole Stoops represented the Club at the CCHA Hoedown on Satur-day July 29th. Valerie reported that the dance was a lot of fun and as a special treat, caller Andy Allemao called a "hex" tip.

BOARD MEETING BRIEFS: CORRESPONDENCE: A card from Helen Shepard with her dues for 2017-18 and a message hopeing she can return to square dancing. City of Hope and Wounded Warriors asking for donations, and a request from Cor-porate Compliance Center which we don’t acknowledge. HOSPITALITY: Ron reported that the July dance went very well. Had lots of food. Anita will continue to be in charge of hospitality for a couple more months since Merrie Ann will be on vacation on and off during those months. It seems like we are having trouble with the floor being sticky. KC center knows of our problem but they do not have anyone on maintenance over the weekend to take care of the problem. We will need to handle this ourselves. Our next dance theme is Hap-py Days with Vic & Shauna Kaaria calling and cueing. It was suggested to put stream-ers around the room for decoration. OLD BUSINESS: The yard sale we had at the Brown’s on Saturday, June 24, gave us a profit of around $650. There was a lot of stuff left and we’re hoping to have another yard sale at someone’s house in the fall. We are looking for a new badge design and we’re asking for ideas. It was decided not to use the city name on our badge. Our name will be TWIRLERS SQUARE DANCE CLUB. We will continue to use Canyon Lake Twirlers website. Tom will look into transferring our Canyon Lake website over to our new one under the name of Twirlers Square Dance Club.

PRESIDENTS’ MESAGE: As new co pres., I just want to say "howdy u all" As a southerner I can say that I was born and raised in the south, Southern California. With David Franks as co pres. we are going to have a good square dance year. Love u all, Earlean Dear Twirlers This is our first chance to communicate with you. I’m sure that you have noticed that the August newsletter is a little late this month. We are working on several substantial changes for the club and we wanted to have the information at least somewhat correct when we sent it out. First, Vic Kaaria, our beloved club caller of 14+ years has asked us to find a replacement for him. His rea-sons relate to the health of his mom and are very un-derstandable. However, we will miss him. His last night of calling will be August 15th. All club and class members are invited that night to say good bye. He and his wife, Shauna, will be calling and cueing our August dance on the 13th so that would be an appro-priate time also. August 15th will also be the mainstream graduation for the current class. After that Bob Stoops has agreed to take over the current class and shepherd it through the plus level which we will reach sometime in December or January. On September 12th, we will start a new mainstream class. Entry to that class will be open until October 3rd. We think the current class will go through plus instruction for the first 30 to 45 minutes of class time and then the mainstream class will begin with the plus class members helping to angel the class. There are two upcoming demos scheduled for August 19th and August 29th. The first will be at Indian beach in Canyon Lake starting at around 3:00 PM. The sec-ond will be at Lambs fellowship on Railroad Canyon road starting at round 6:00 PM. We will need support to conduct our demos which we hope will attract stu-dents for our September 12th class. Finally, we could use a little more help with the current class. Men would be especially useful. Even though we have several women who can dance the men’s part it can be confusing to the new dancers.

CLASS NOTES: CELEBRATE! CELEBRATE! Our class members are doing well and are expected to complete the mainstream calls sometime in August. To recognize their achievement, as they graduate from mainstream and move on to Plus, we must have a party. The date for the graduation is being dis-cussed—watch for an announcement. START SPREADING THE WORD!. We will begin a new class on Tuesday, September 12th. We are trying to figure out a schedule that would include a time for Workshop for our experienced dancers, Plus instruction for our current class, and Basic instruction for new class members. The tentative schedule for September will have a Plus class from 6:15 to 7:15 and a Beginner class from 715 to 8:45. We will make adjustments in October when we are hoping to add an additional half hour to our time at the K.C. Center. As usual, the first night for new class members will be free. We will have flyers available soon to pass out at your church, gym or social organiza-tion. If you live in a gated community or mobile home park with a newsletter, let Tom, Michele, or Bill know—we might be able to put an ad in it. If you live in Hemet, please let the publicity team know of any publications that are distributed to city resi-dents. As always, we are hoping for a big class and we need everyone’s help to get the word out.
