Type V hypersensitivity reaction●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●● This is an additional type of hypersensitivity reaction which is considered distinct from Type 2.● Antibodies recognise and bind to cell surface receptors instead of binding to cell surface components.● This prevents the intended ligand binding with the receptor or mimics the effects of the ligand, thusimpairing cell signaling.● Examples:1) Graves' disease2) Myasthenia gravis● The use of Type 5 is rare.● These conditions are more frequently classified as Type 2 Hypersensitivity reactions.
