Endothermic vs Exothermic
• Endothermic rnx- take in heat energy (cooling)
– Energy as a reactant
• Exothermic rnx- these give off energy (hot rnx)
– Energy as a product
• Real life examples? ?
• Decomposition-
2H2O2 (aq) 2H2O (l) + O2 (g)
To make this rnx go faster you would add MnO2 but it would not be a reactant.
This is called a Catalyst helps the reaction go faster.
