Frequently these groups continue after graduation, and they represent a fun and easy way to meet people with similar interests. Here are a few of the many games that have active participants. Most have mixed, ladies’, and men’s groups, and sign-ups occur at any monthly social:

Membership is open to individuals or households who have resided in Tellico Village for less than two years. Members retain their privileges for the rest of the first calendar year plus the subsequent two calendar years, and then “graduate” out. This mandatory yearly turn-over of a third of the membership ensures that the programs and activities stay fresh, and that new residents can participate equally.
Not a traditional newcomers group, the New Villagers Club is organized and run by members, with no permanent cadre or clique. Want to volunteer? There are lots of opportunities.
A social/happy hour for New Villagers is held on the first Thursday of each month at the Yacht Club. At this meeting we welcome and introduce new members, and we learn about – and sign up for – activities and other social opportunities. New members have a mentor to guide them through their first meeting and to act as a resource for questions about life in Tellico Village. Usually, new members have dinner at the Yacht Club after their first meeting, with other new members and a board member/s. Those dinners are frequently the start of lasting relationships with fellow “newbies.”
Through New Villagers, every new resident has access to a treasure trove of new friends, many of whom will last for a lifetime!
Muddy Boots Hiking ClubActive New Villagers meet the second Monday of every month
to hike the many wonderful trails of Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina. Hikes range from easy to moderate
and from 2-5 miles in length. Hikes are organized and led by a different club member each month. You’ll see the beauty of
this part of the country - up close and personal!
New Villagers GolfFor couples and singles, New Villagers play on Thursday, April through October (except for the first Thursday of the month). An afternoon nine-hole scramble event means golfers of all skill levels can enjoy the beauty of our three scenic courses, usually followed by dinner, fellowship, and a year-end party.
Wine Tasting GroupsEach group takes on a different personality, and additional groups are being created as new members arrive. Usually meeting monthly, members of wine tasting groups rotate hosting, and the host chooses the theme for the evening. Everyone brings an hors d’oeuvres (that’s what we do here in the Village), so let the party begin!
Dinners for Six/Gourmet Wine Dinners for SixSmall groups are more intimate, don’t you think? A Dinners for
Six “rotation” spans three months. You will be a guest at someone else’s home for two of the three months, and you will be host one
of those months. Groups change each month, so you’ll have dinner with six other couples during each rotation. It’s a great chance to
show off your cooking and entertaining skills. What fun!
Dining OutOne of the most popular New Villagers activities,
groups of 40-60 dine at a different restaurant each month. The fellowship hour before dinner is a great
ice-breaker, and dinner tables are usually set for 6-8 people. This makes Dining Out a great place to meet
other New Villagers socially, so be sure to sign up early!
