Uppingham School, one of Britain’s leading co-educationalschools, was founded in 1584 and is situated in theattractive town of Uppingham, Rutland, 100 miles north ofLondon. The journey by road is approximately 2 hours fromLondon. Free transfers are offered from London Heathrow.Stansted airport is also accessible.
The school has both new and old buildings, all in excellentorder. The residences, located close together, offer anextremely high level of accommodation. The sports facilitiesare extensive and include football and cricket pitches, tenniscourts, indoor swimming pool, gym and sports hall.

Woldingham School, part of the world-wide network ofSacred Heart Catholic Schools, is situated in a beautifulvalley of some 320 hectares in Surrey, near Oxted. It is only25 kilometres from London, close to the M25 motorway.Gatwick is under 30 minutes away and Heathrow 45 minutes.Direct trains from London Victoria to the railway station inthe grounds take 30 minutes.
The school is situated in extensive grounds, just threekilometres from the village of Woldingham. Marden House,the junior house, is purpose-built. It offers accommodation,classrooms, IT rooms, dining hall and assembly hall, wheremost indoor social activities take place, all under one roof.There is a modern arts centre and a new DVD cinema forevening relaxation. Language Activities
These ‘English in Action’ sessions are led by classroomteachers, with help from the activity leaders, and aredesigned to encourage learning English by ‘doing’. Eachweek students are presented with different activities tochoose from eg. writing/composing and performing a popsong, using IT to produce a magazine, researching recipes toproduce delicious food, creating a photo story, video filmmaking etc. Each activity usually lasts one week and has anoutcome eg. performing the pop song in front of thecourse, distributing the magazineto all course participants, sharingcopies of the cookbook (plustastings!), a drama production inthe theatre etc.
Special Options
All options are offered at extra cost and aresubject to availability.
These group sessions, led by professionallyqualified coaches/teachers, are offered on twoafternoons per week. Two weeks’ minimum isrecommended.
Tennis (all centres) - beginner,elementary and intermediate levels.All the basic skills will be coached andpractice matches arranged as
appropriate for the level. On site.
Horse-riding (Uppingham andWoldingham) - beginner, novice andintermediate levels. Both ridingstables are BHS approved and have
excellent facilities for both indoor and outdoortraining. We offer one hour’s riding on each ofthe two afternoons, plus stable management.Protective hats and boots are supplied, as istransportation to and from the riding centres.
Golf (Radley) - beginner tointermediate levels. All skills covered,plus match play on College 9-hole golf course. On site.
Dance (all centres) - thesesessions concentrate onpop/jazz/contemporarydance and are designed for
beginner to intermediate levels. On site.
