Spring Awakening is a landmark production and something rather differ-ent from the traditional Fond du Lac Community Theatre show. A mixture of rebellion, coming-of-age, and a little bit of rock and roll, this show is sure to give audiences ‘feels’ they may have not felt before and some may even be a bit uncomfortable. Theater-goers will go on a journey of teen-age navigation through self-discovery, inside and out. The talented cast of this production is lead by a seasoned Fond du Lac Community director and showcases the shear talent our organization has to offer. This production is a powerful celebration of creativity and addresses issues we face as a society. Our community, and those that surround us, are ready for this. #FondyIsReady

Bree Mueller

I don't know if it is more tragic, or more amazing that this story was written in 1891. The issues and themes tackled in this show are pain-fully relevant today, and it is astounding to me that these prevalent subjects have been around for so long. Although Spring Awakening is rated R and has an edgier nature, the story itself is written beautifully and we did not want to shy away from any ideas reflected in the script. It is filled with intimacy, conflict, love, and discovery. There will be moments that are going to make you uncomfortable, but we invite you to accept the truths as they are written. Our personal fantasies and desires, fears and insecurities, are often repressed. Tonight, we are going to put them in front of you in a way that is raw and real - because that is where the power of this show lies.

Bree directed Shrek the Musical, A Christmas Story, Bugsy Malone and Beauty and the

Beast. Two of her favorite roles onstage have been “Mary” in Jesus Christ Superstar and

“Natalie” in Next to Normal. Bree loves being part of the theatre, and is currently finish-

ing up her junior year as a Theatre Major at UW-Oshkosh. When not in rehearsals for

Community Theater, she hobbies as a photographer and also works at Goebel Insurance

and Financial. Bree is grateful for the opportunities she is given, but this is even more

special. There are no words to describe the experience of working on this project with

this cast and crew. Some of the most important people in her life are involved in this

production, and it is probably the most fulfilling project she has done. She sends love and

thanks to all of her family and friends for their ongoing support and encouragement.

My introduction to this show, over 10 years ago, was very influential on my life, and to be able to put it together now with this cast and crew has been an incredible experience. I got to work with so many people I care about: family, friends who feel like family, and new friends that will surely hold a place in my heart for a long time. I am so proud and grateful to every person in this cast for trusting and allowing me to walk them through this. I asked them to be vulnerable, and with little reservation they took on the challenge. I asked them to be truthful in their inter-actions with each other, and they opened their hearts. Love is loud, and that is made clear, not only by the writing of this show, but also by the investment of every person involved in this production.

Although the subject matter may not be something you relate to, agree with, or even under-stand, I hope you will feel better equipped to talk about it. One of the biggest tragedies in this show is the inability to talk and confess one's struggles. The theme of enduring alone, but together, is made clear by the characters you will see tonight. This show invites so many oppor-tunities for acceptance. It opens the door for discussions that need to be had. Since 1891 people have been suffering, and tonight we are going to talk about it. Tonight we are going to share their pain, we are going to begin to move forward, and all will know the wonder of purple summer.

Mackenzie Gens (Wendla)

Returning to the Fond du Lac Community Theatre stage, Mackenzie was previously involved in productions of Godspell, Jekyll and Hyde, The Wedding Singer, and played the “Dragon” in Shrek the Musical. She also directed FDLCT’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Mackenzie is mom to two boys, ages 5 and 7. She hopes this show will shed light on the unspoken to create a voice for the voiceless and inspire the uninspired.

Matt Peplinski (Melchior)

Although he is debuting with FDLCT, Matt has a long list of shows he has been involved with including Moon Over Buffalo, High School Musical, and Midsummer Night’s Dream. He has filled the roles of “el Gallo” in The Fantasticks, “Stacee Jaxx” in Rock of Ages, Danny Zuko in Grease, and Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd. Matt is a student at UW-Oshkosh majoring in Theatre Arts with a minor in Music Industry. He loves to produce, perform, and write music. He is also a pretty big sports guy.

Brittney Baldwin (Martha)

Another new person to Fond du Lac Community Theatre, Brittney has enjoyed working onstage and off in other produc-tions. She has been involved in Fox Valley’s Dream Role and in June will be playing “Ulla” in The Producers. Brittney has con-tributed her talents as a music director, choreographer, and stage manager to a number of shows. Her family is husband, Austin, and two cats, Widget and Midi.

Andy Mueller (Moritz)

Andy has become a familiar face on the Fond du Lac Community Theatre stage. He has previously played “LeFou” in Beauty and the Beast, “Farquad” in Shrek the Musical, and “Judas” in Jesus Christ Superstar. Andy works as a Consumer Loan Officer with Marine Credit Union. He has four siblings and two amazingly supportive parents. Andy will be the first to tell you that he loves nerdy stuff like Dungeons and Dragons and his current obsessions are Magic Gathering and Disc Golf.

Hannah Holzmann (Isle)

Hannah has played a variety of roles with FDLCT, most recently “Olive” in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and the “Mad Hatter” in Shrek the Musical. In addition to FDLCT, she has been involved with productions at Lawrence University, Chilton Community Theatre, and the Pankratz Arts Exchange. Hannah recently received an Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nomination for her performance in Silent Sky at UW-FDL. She thanks her mom and dad (Jennifer & Terry Holzmann), her brothers (Luke and Isaac), and sister (Emma) for all their support.

Jake Cox (Hanschen)

No newcomer to theatre, Jake has played “Amos Hart” in a production of Chicago, “Willard Hewitt” in Footloose, and “Dr. John Seward” in a production of Dracula with Musical Masquer’s Theatre in West Bend. Jake thanks his family for their continued love and support and gives a special shoutout to his girlfriend, Megan. Jake works as an Adult Day Services Caregiver at Threshold Inc.

Nicholas George (Ernst)

Having previously filled the roles of “Angel” in Rent, “Barfee” in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and “Horton” in Seussical, Nicholas is no stranger to theatre. He attended UW-Fox Valley as a musical theatre major and studied with Susan Rabideau. Musical theatre is his only hobby, but his day job is as a Loan Specialist at U.S. Bank. This is a dream show and a dream role for Nicholas.

Noah Goebel (Georg)

We welcome the very talented Noah back to the FDLCT stage. You may remember him from his touching performance and amazing vocals as “Gabe Goodman” in Next to Normal. He also played “Lucas” in The Addams Family and most recently had the audiences roaring with laughter as “Barfee” in The 25th Annual Putnam Coun-ty Spelling Bee. Noah has been involved in musical revues at Maxi-millian’s in Mount Calvary and performed there in a production of Forever Plaid. Noah teaches music and works as a golf caddie. He hopes you enjoy the music and powerful message of this show.

Cassandra Pawasarat (Anna)

We are happy to welcome Cassandra to her first Fond du Lac Community Theatre production. She has experience with the Sheboygan Theatre Company and Calumet County Community Theatre. She played “Janet” in Studio Player’s Rocky Horror Picture Show and “Dorothy” in The Wizard of Oz. Cassandra works as a Patient Care Coordinator at Dental Associates. She loves painting, drawing, camping, and traveling.

Matthew Rodenkirch (Adult Man)

Matthew is a very familiar face on our stage. This is his third appearance this season, having been in "Hound of the Basker-villes" and "Terms of Endearment." He has worked on stage crews and continues to be one of our main set builders. Matthew works in communications at Holy Family Catholic Community and is also a freelance photographer and graphic designer. Matthew has been married for nearly 25 years to his wife, Frances.

MaryBeth Cole (Adult Woman)

MaryBeth has been active in several area community theatres for the past 25 years. Some of her favorite roles include “Morticia” in The Addams Family, “Lina Lamont” in Singin’ in the Rain, and “Adelaide” in Guys and Dolls. In her free time, she enjoys binging on Netflix with her dog, Cookie, and is in a book club, Reading Between the Wines. She thanks her husband for his love and support. MaryBeth hopes that Spring Awakening reminds people that you can’t stop adolescent sexuality from blossoming, but you can

Melchoir: headstrong, smart, and charismatic. He very well could have risen to the top of his class, but instead rejects his school’s hard regime and rebels against it. His radical points of view about most things are correct but misun-derstood.

Wendla: a sweet, but naïve young girl who is trapped in her family’s unwillingness to teach her about the adult world, which causes her to have trouble understanding things like sexual attraction - but with every passing day she grows bolder and more curious.

Moritz: feels intense pressure from his parents and his peers to succeed and he frequently strug-gles in school. He has an over-whelming confusion relating to sexual feelings. He is highly sensi-tive and feels like a failure.

Isle: a misguided young girl who runs away from an abusive home to live in an artists’ colony. She is kind and resilient while also bro-ken and stuck in a cycle of abuse.

Hanschen: a humorous, intelligent and narcissistic classmate who manipulates the other students. He is Ernst’s love interest and is comfortable with his sexuality.

Martha: a friend of Wendla’s who experiences abuse. She has a crush on Moritz and is chastised by the other girls for it.

Ernst: a sweet and naïve class-mate. He is the love interest to Hanschen.

Georg: a hormonal school boy who lusts after his older, busty piano teacher.

Otto: a classmate who has a dis-turbing dream about his mother.

Thea: a confrontational school girl who outwardly believes the adults, but secretly questions the blind faith demanded of her. She doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Anna: a kind school girl who is more aware of injustice than the other girls.

He is so thankful to be part of such a talented and hard-working cast and crew.

June 20-23 - Fond du Lac Performing Arts Center Director: Steve Wilson

An infamous tale with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler, Sweeney Todd, is about an unjustly exiled barber, who seeks venge-ance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which, he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett’s luck sharply shifts when Todd’s thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up. This thrilling, theatrical treat has shocked, awed, and delighted audiences around the world.
