ST. ROSE CHURCH FEBRUARY 18, 2018

FROM THEPASTOR'S DESK

When you read of Jesus' temptations, whatstrikes a chord of empathy in you? The heat? His hunger? The moral struggle? A compellingpicture this Messiah - hungry, parched, ex-hausted. Yet even more sorrowful is the factthat Jesus endured these trials all alone. While angelic messengers offered comfort,Jesus lacked the compassion of even a singlehuman heart. As would happen throughoutHis life when a crisis hit, the people dearestto Jesus seemed to disappear. It's a situation familiar to many of us. Ourlives are packed with friends when we cele-brate. But where are those numbers when.serious illness strikes? Who remains loyalwhen financial or legal troubles arise? Andshould we truly stumble into sin, whoreaches out in compassion and mercy? Jesusdoes. He knows the sorrow of isolation. Heremembers how it felt to have friends walkaway. It is this that makes our Savior so preciousto us. Having walked the human path, Heknows the deepest needs of our- hearts evenin our darkest times. With Christ we neednever be alone.++++++++++++++++++++++++
