Unit 1: Logical Thinking Development Flowcharts Flowchart Exercises EXERCISE #1. Given a base and a height, compute a triangle´s area. EXERCISE #2. Convert USD dollar amounts to its equivalent in pounds, euros, pesos and yen. Consider the following conversion factors: 1 dollar = .6178 pounds ; 1 dollar = .7370 euros; 1 dollar = 95.3721 yens; 1 dollar = 13.45 pesos EXERCISE # 3. John and Sara love travelling inside the country, and they´ll like to know the estimated time to arrive to their destiny. After several trips, they realized that considering the technical stops and the speed reduction due to the crossing of small towns, the speed is reduced in approximately 15%. Design a solution strategy to calculate the estimated time to get to a city, if you know the distance in miles between the starting point an the destination city, the average speed in miles/hour, and the speed reduction of 15%. EXERCISE #4 The Miami Triathlon consists of three events: swim, bike and run. If they give you the time in hours and minutes that a competitor made in each of the events, compute the total time of the competitor in hours and minutes. EXERCISE #5 When ordering a pizza, people always start discussing about which size gives more for their money. Circular pizzas are sold by its diameter (10 inches, 12 inches, etc.). Design a strategy to obtain the price by square inch of a pizza depending on its size (area = π r 2 ) if you know its diameter and its prize. Test with the following data: Small Pizza: 10 “ - $85.00. Medium Pizza: 12” - $150.00 Jumbo Pizza: 16” - $220.00
