Match reports: Opponent: Bury Amateurs
Date: 06/09/14
Venue: Drinkwater Park
Result: 0-8
Match report: 06/09/14 Pennine began the season with a trip to Drinkwater Park to face a very competitive Bury Amateurs
side, who were looking to exact revenge for the heavy defeat Pennine gave them at the latter end of
last season.
The match started slowly but Pennine soon began to get a grip with their superior passing
game denying the opposition any possession, after a couple of half chances came and went it was
only a matter of time before Pennine took the lead, then followed one-way traffic for the remainder
of the first half, Pennine were dominant and were good value for an amazing 8-0 half-time lead.
Bury came out determined in the second half and began to apply some strong arm tactics,
but Pennine regained control after weathering the early storm and somehow were unable to add to
their first half goals. The Bury goal led a charmed life at times but a combination of good
goalkeeping, desperate defending and pure bad luck meant the game finished an emphatic 8-0 win
for Pennine when double figures were deserved.
Thomas, Alfie and Henry all scored 2 goals each with Brodie and Logan scoring the other 2. Logan was awarded Man of the Match. Opponent: Middleton Lads
Date: 13/09/14
Venue: Hopwood Hall Result: 9-1
Match report: 13/09/14 Pennine's first home game of the season saw them take on Middleton Lads at Hopwood Hall.
Once again Pennine did their usual slow start and allowed their enthusiastic opponents a couple of
sights of goal, but some solid defending held them at bay.
Once Pennine got into their stride they began to take hold of the game, again the boys
utilised some slick passing moves to wear down a strong opposition, in particular the short corner
routines were causing Middleton no end of problems. As the half-time whistle blew, Pennine were 6-
0 up and in total control.
The second half was a more even affair as Middleton tried their best to apply some pressure
to the Pennine defence, but the boys held firm and in a battling display added another 3 goals to
their first half tally, a late Middleton breakaway consolation goal was the only negative of another
disciplined and powerful display from Pennine.
Thomas, Alfie and Henry again scored 2 each, Brodie, Logan and Lucas each scored a goal and Alfie was named Man of the Match

Opponent: Middleton Lads
Date: 20/09/14
Venue: St Marys Park
Result: 11-1
Match report: 20/09/14 Pennine travelled to Prestwich to take on a highly rated Marauders Panthers side in an
eagerly anticipated game. The boys were looking to continue their 100% start to the season and
Prestwich had shown in their first 2 matches that they would be a force to be reckoned with.
What followed was a devastating display of passing football that left the Panthers chasing
shadows for long periods and resorting to kick-outs from the goalkeeper as a method of registering
shots on goal.
Once again defensive solidity was the foundation for Pennine, every player covering every
blade of grass to recover the ball. Panthers couldnt cope with the high tempo pressing and passing
and Pennine eased to victory over a strong team whose late consolation goal was only due to a
defensive mix-up once the boys had taken there foot off the gas.
Alfie smashed in 4 goals, Lucas scored a great hat-trick, Thomas, Logan, Henry and Brodie all chipped in with a goal each and Seb was a rock at the back. Lucas was named Man of the Match after an all action display. Opponent: Walshaw Sports White Date: 27/09/14
Venue: Hopwood Hall Result: 7-2
Match report: 27/09/14 The match gave us an early start with a 09:00 kick-off at Hopwood Hall, most of the Pennine
boys still seemed to be in bed as by 09:05 they found themselves 2-0 down and had barely had a kick
against a fired-up Walshaw Whites.
The boys re-grouped though and soon began to fashion a few chances, it wasnt long before
the goals came and they had managed to get a lead by half-time.
Pennine really turned the screw in the second half as they finally got there passing game
going, hitting the woodwork an unbelievable 4 times and seeing the Walshaw keeper pull off at least
10 top quality saves.
Lucas scored his second hat-trick in two games, Thomas scored 2 and Alfie and Henry grabbed a goal each. Henry was named as Man of the Match.

Opponent: Bridge Hawks
Date: 04/10/14
Venue: Hopwood Hall Result: 6-0
Match report: 04/10/14 Forget Rangers vs Celtic, City vs United or El Classico, this was the derby everyone was waiting for,
The Norden/Bamford derby. Pennine were looking to extend their 100% start to the season against a
previously unbeaten Bridge Hawks at Hopwood Hall.
The match started slowly with both sides sizing each other up, Bridge were big and strong and were
disrupting Pennine's famed passing game, the boys stuck to their footballing principles and started
to push Bridge back, some great football and clinical finishing led to a 4-0 half time lead despite
some valiant Bridge defending and excellent goalkeeping.
Pennine continued to press in the second half but once again Bridge defended stoutly and were a
constant menace on the break, but the boys managed to add another 2 goals to their total and ran
out 6-0 winners. This was another good performance from Pennine, built on a foundation of a rock
solid defence and some beautifully crafted passing moves going forward. The boys had to be at their
best to beat a strong and well organised Bridge outfit and can hopefully take this form on to their
next match.
Henry and Alfie both grabbed 2 goals each, Thomas and Logan both got a goal each. Brodie was named as Man Of The Match Opponent: Prestwich Marauders Panthers
Date: 11/10/14
Venue: Hopwood Hall Result: 5-0
Match report: 11/10/14 Pennine hoped to keep their 100% record intact against a Prestwich side determined to avenge the
defeat they suffered against us earlier in the season. The match started brightly with both teams
playing good football on the pristine Hopwood Hall playing surface. As the first half progressed
Pennine began to take control of the midfield and were starting to create chances, Panthers were
looking dangerous going forward but the boys showed some clinical finishing to lead 2-0 at half time.
The second half followed much the same pattern as the first, Pennine looking to dominate possesion
and Panthers battling hard and looking dangerous on the break. In the end, the Pennine passing
game came to the fore and some lovely interplay and one-touch football saw the boys run out 5-0
winners in an extremely tough game.
Thomas grabbed a hattrick with Alfie and Lucas getting the other goals. Sebastien was named Man of the Match.

Opponent: Walshaw Sports Whites
Date: 18/10/14
Venue: Sycamore Road
Result: 2-12
Match report: 18/10/14 Walshaw Sports White 2-12 Pennine Black Under 8's
Another early start, this time with an 08:40 kick off, saw Pennine travel to Bury to take on Walshaw
Sports Whites. They boys knew that after their last meeting, they would be in for another tough
match.
Pennine started well but Walshaw kept on battling hard and kept within touching distance, as the
half wore on though, Pennine started to crank up the pressure and went in with a 5-1 half-time lead.
Pennine kept their tempo high in the second half, and despite working really hard and playing some
good football, Walshaw couldnt hold the boys at bay. The final score was 12-2 to Pennine and the
boys 100% record was maintained.
Logan, Henry and Lucas all scored hat-tricks, Brodie scored two and Alfie one. Thomas was named as Man of the Match. Opponent: Walshaw Sports Club
Date: 25/10/14
Venue: Hopwood Hall Result: 7-1
Match report: 25/10/14 Pennine Black Under 8's 7-1 Walshaw Sports Club
On a cold, damp Hopwood Hall morning, Pennine looked to maintain their 100% record against a
talented Walshaw Sports side. The match was a tense affair to begin with as Pennine tried to assert
their passing game on Walshaw, but Walshaw also like to play the game properly and after a quarter
of the match we were still locked at 0-0.
When the breakthrough finally came it was from Pennine, they quickly added 2 more and went in
with a slightly flattering 3-0 lead at half-time. The 2nd half followed much the same pattern, Pennine
trying to play their fluid passing game and Walshaw responding in kind, in an entertaining match
with some excellent play from both teams, the boys managed to push on and run out 7-1 winners. In
difficult conditions it was a credit to both teams that they managed to produce the quality of
football on display at times.
Thomas and Logan both hit 2 goals each, Alfie and Henry scored a goal each and Walshaw scored a very unlucky own goal. Henry was a well-deserved Man of the Match.

Opponent: Walshaw Sports Club
Date: 15/11/14 Venue: Play football Bury Result: 2-7 Match report: 15/11/14 Walshaw Sports Club-2 Pennine Black Under 8's-7. After a couple of weeks break due to
match postponements, the Blacks were back in action against a familiar foe in Walshaw
Sports, The game had been moved to the all weather pitch at PlayFootball in Bury to avoid
another call off, and the boys were refreshed and raring to go.
In a game where both teams were playing some very attractive football, Pennine's finishing
was more clinical and they raced into a 4-1 lead at half time with some well taken goals. The
second half followed much the same pattern with both sides using the good surface to play
some great passing football.
More goals followed and the boys ran out 7-2 winners on a day where quality football was
also the winner.
Thomas, Logan and Henry all scored 2 goals each and Brodie chipped in with the other. Logan was named as man of the match. Opponent: Rossendale Valley Tigers Date: 22/11/14 Venue: St Peters Result: 1-7 Match report: 22/11/14 Rossendale Valley Tigers 1-7 Pennine Blacks Pennine made it 10 wins out of 10 after a hard fought game on a wet and misty Rossendale
morning. On a pitch that had seen a lot of rain, the boys continued with there famed high
tempo, passing and pressing game. They were made to work really hard by a talented Tigers
team and held a slender 2-1 lead at half time.
The boys came into their own in the second half as the hosts began to tire in the heavy
conditions, some great flowing attacking moves brought 5 more goals and a good 7-1 win
against a very strong opponent who also tried to play football properly.
With some tough fixtures coming up, the boys seem to be hitting form at the right time.
Logan cracked in 4 goals, Thomas grabbed 2 and Alfie got the other. Alfie was also named man of the match

Opponent: Woodbank Red
Date: 29/11/14
Venue: Nuttall Park
Result: 2-5
Match report: 29/11/14 Woodbank Red 2-5 Pennine Black Under 8's
Pennine were not at their best today but still managed to come out on top against a physical
Woodbank side in a sometimes feisty encounter at Nuttall Park. The boys couldnt have got off to a
better start, scoring in the opening few seconds. They then raced into a 4 goal lead but took their
foot off the gas and allowed Woodbank to grab a goal before halftime. The heavy pitch was affecting
Pennines passing game and despite the scoreline the boys hadnt enjoyed their usual domination.
When Woodbank pulled another goal back at the start of the second half, it was the wake up call the
boys needed, they took control of the remainder of the game, scored another goal and should of
added a couple more to the total. In the end it was a hard fought victory against a strong side in
difficult conditions. The boys 100% record remained intact with 11 wins from 11 games but with
some tough fixtures to come the boys know they must keep working hard to maintain it.
Logan and Henry scored 2 goals each and Lucas scored the other. Brodie was named as man of the match
Opponent: Milnrow Juniors
Date: 06/12/14
Venue: Heywood Sports Village
Result: 6-4
Match report: 06/12/14 Pennine Black Under 8's 6-4 Milnrow Juniors
It was the match we had all been waiting for 100% vs 100%, something had to give. With the
weather taking a bad turn, the match was moved to the 3g pitch at Heywood on a bitterly cold
saturday morning. Milnrow had previously crushed every team they had met, but they hadnt met a
team like Pennine Blacks before.
Pennine played their usual high tempo, passing and pressing game, using the 3g surface to great
effect, Milnrow though weren't going down without a fight, and utilising their more direct style of
football only trailed Pennine 2-1 at half time. The game opened up more in the second half as legs
began to tire, Pennine again outscored their opposition to run out 6-4 winners in a highly
entertaining match of contrasting styles.
Page | 10
With only one more match before the winter break, Pennine still maintain a 100% record, but
with the boys now being the team everyone wants to beat, they are going to have to work twice as
hard to keep the run going.
Henry scored a hat-trick, Logan got 2 and Alfie grabbed the other and was also named Man of the Match.
Opponent: Roach Dynamos White
Date: 12/01/15
Venue: Heywood Sports Village
Result: 6-4
Match report: 12/01/15 Pennine Black Under 8's 6-4 Roach Dynamos White
Pennine returned to action after the winter break determined to continue their winning ways and
maintain their 100% record in the NBJFL this season. Due to the pitches being unplayable the match
was again moved to the 3g surface at Heywood.
The boys found themselves up against a very talented team that contained a number of academy
players and with conditions that bordered on atrocious this was going to be an extremely tough
encounter.
With the gale force wind at their backs and the hailstones directed into the faces of their opponents,
Pennine raced into a 4-1 half-time lead. The boys had to face the elements in the second half and
Roach pulled it back to 4-4, but some wonderful passing moves led to Pennine taking the wind out of
Roach's sails and running out 6-4 winners in a great game between two talented footballing sides
Henry scored a hat-trick, Logan got 2 and Lucas grabbed the other. Sebastien was named Man of the Match. Opponent: Oldham Rangers Date: 24/011/15
Venue: The Soccer Factory Result: 3-13
Match report: 24/01/15 Oldham Rangers 3–13 Pennine Black Under 8's
The boys returned to action after last weeks postponement in a game that was moved to the Soccer
Factory as Oldham's pitch was unplayable. This was always going to be a tough game against a
strong, well organised opponent but Pennine produced one of their best performances of the season
to keep up their 100% league record.
In a fast paced encounter, the boys were able to use their wonderful passing and moving game to
score some incredible team goals and coupled with an amazing work ethic and a willingness to work
Page | 11
hard to support their team-mates , it was a truly memorable performance against a talented
opposition.
Pennine were simply unplayable at times and every player produced some sublime moments of skill
and showed fantastic technique throughout. Oldham's keeper produced some great stops to keep
the score at 13-3 and they battled hard throughout but on days like this, Pennine are untouchable.
Henry scored 5, Logan got 3, Thomas 2, Lucas 2 and Alfie grabbed the other. The whole team were named as Men of the Match as it was impossible to split them as they all played so well. Opponent: Milnrow Juniors Date: 31/01/15 Venue: Soccer Village Result: 6-15
Match report: Pennine visited Milnrow in what was always going to be a very tough game off the boards at the
Soccer Village. The boys were full of confidence after their excellent victory last week against
Oldham Rangers but knew that keeping their 100% record was going to be very hard against a team
who would be desperate to avenge their only defeat this season.
Pennine flew out of the blocks and raced into an early lead, utilising the excellent indoor playing
surface, the boys were fizzing the ball about and attacking with frightening pace. Milnrow were
strong and determined, and despite leaking a few goals they refused to back down and kept trying to
attack themselves, but Pennine were solid at the back and led 8-2 at half-time.
The second half followed in much the same vein, Pennine continued with their fluid passing game
and produced some intricate passing moves and showed some great moments of individual skill and
flair. Milnrow kept battling and did rally late on as the 5 Pennine boys began to tire, but in the end it
was an emphatic 15-6 win for Pennine and the boys moved on to 15 wins out of 15.
Thomas scored 9, Henry got 3, Logan 2 and Lucas 1. Thomas was named as Man of the Match in another performance where all 5 boys were excellent.

Opponent: Walshaw Sports Club
Date: 07/02/15 Venue: Playfootball Bury Result: 3-11
Match report: 07/02/15 Walshaw Sports Club 3–11 Pennine Black Under 8's
Pennine came up against an old foe in Walshaw Sports Club this week in what proved to be an
enthralling game between two sides who try to play football in the proper way. As in their previous
2 matches, Pennine got off to a flying start and took an early lead, Walshaw though were not giving
up easily and soon levelled things. Virtually straight away though the boys re-took the lead and
began to put the Walshaw defence under severe pressure. The half finished with Pennine leading 7-
1, some great build up play and excellent finishing were the key to this and with the boys fighting
hard for each other they had managed to build a comfortable cushion.
Walshaw are a talented and determined team, and they dont go down without a fight, the second
half was a more even affair, with both teams playing some great stuff and scoring some quite
spectacular goals. Pennine kept calm and ran out 11-3 winners in a game that football purists would
have really enjoyed.
Henry and Logan scored 3 each, Thomas got 2, Alfie and Lucas got one each and there was also an own goal. Henry was named as man of the match. Opponent: Woodbank Reds
Date: 14/02/15
Venue: Oldham Academy
Result: 2-11
Match report: 14/02/15 Pennine Black Under 8's 11-2 Woodbank Reds
It may have been Valentine’s Day but there was no love lost as Pennine faced up to Woodbank Red
in a clash of two of the top sides in the NBJFL. The last league encounter between the sides had seen
Pennine run out narrow victors, Woodbank would really fancy their chances but in the form that
they are in at the moment, Pennine are looking unstoppable.
Both sides looked to play good football, keeping the ball on the floor and challenging each other
physically but fairly, but with quality in all areas of the team Pennine had got themselves into a
comfortable lead by half time. The boys kept the flowing football going in the 2nd half and managed
to keep the goals coming with some breath-taking attacking football.
Page | 13
Once again every player contributed to the result and the determination and desire to work hard
for their teammates was in evidence again today. The boys finished as 11-2 victors to take their
winning run to 17 straight games and the hope of a 100% league campaign was still intact.
Henry and Logan scored 3 each, Alfie got 2, Thomas and Lucas got one each and there was also an own goal. Lucas was named as man of the match.
