UC Irvine Joint Research Park

SWA provided master planning, landscape concepts

and development guidelines for this 400-acre research

park, with 280 acres of University land representing a

joint public/private partnership with the University and

The Irvine Company. The master plan includes an exten-

sive open space trail system that takes advantage of the

site’s natural topography, a 200,000 square foot innova-

tion center, a 350-room executive conference center

and pedestrian connections to the University’s Health

Sciences School. SWA also provided more detailed

landscape concepts for the first phase of development

which features the National Academy of Science and

Engineering.
