UCO Group Fitness Class Descriptions
ABS AND CORE A fast 30-‐minute workout focusing on the core muscles of the abdominals, back, and glutes. CYCLE A cardiovascular workout utilizing specialized stationary bikes, participants choose their resistance
while riding to exhilarating music! In this class you will burn calories! Climb, sprint, and jump your workout to the next level. Make sure to bring a reusable water bottle!
CYCLE AND CORE A 45 minute class that combines a cardio cycling workout and strength training for your core. It’s 35 minutes of high intensity cycling followed by 10 minutes of core exercises targeting the upper, lower, and side abdominals as well as the lower back.
KETTLEBELLS AND MORE
This class utilizes kettlebells combined with free weights and interval training for a total body workout.
KICKBOXING An intense workout with controlled jabs, punches, kicks, and combinations. Participants will be challenged and inspired to discover the endless energy and power of simple, yet precise kickboxing techniques. (Maximum 45 participants)
KICKLATES This class combines the toning, shaping and flexibility benefits of Pilates with the cardiovascular and fat loss benefits of kickboxing.
LES MILLS™ BODYPUMP™
The original LES MILLS™ barbell class, will sculpt, tone and strengthen your entire body, fast! Focusing on low weight loads and high repetition movements, you'll burn fat, gain strength and quickly produce lean body muscle conditioning. The cutting-‐edge BODYPUMP™ choreography and chart-‐topping music is refreshed every three months, so with your choice of weight and highly-‐trained instructors you can get the group effect and the results you've been looking for! Available in 30-‐minute lunch classes or traditional 60-‐minute classes. (Maximum 20 participants)
LIFT Group weight training designed specifically for retired (or those nearing retirement) UCO faculty and staff. With a focus on improving one’s ability to perform daily activities, this class also includes balance and flexibility training. A chair may be used for seated or standing support.
POWER YOGA An energizing and challenging class which moves through dynamic sequences that help to develop core strength and stamina, improve balance, create lean, strong muscle, and improves flexibility.
RESTORATIVE YOGA
A gentle form of Hatha yoga practiced with props to provide a full, relaxing stretch helping to reduce the effects of stress-‐related illness. The class is slow, deeply nurturing and suitable for all ages – particularly those with pain or limitations. (Maximum 12 participants)
SUNRISE CYCLE Trying to squeeze in an intense workout first thing in the morning? Start your day off right with a morning cycling class designed to condition your heart and train your muscles for a serious cardio workout.
STRENGTH EXPRESS
Short on time? Have 30 minutes? This class is a total body workout that will challenge and tone you!
X-‐TRAINING CENTRAL
Ready to challenge your workouts with high intensity, powerful movements at faster tempos? This class has interval sets combining TRX®, strength training, weight training, plyometric and cardio drills. Guaranteed to keep your heart rate pumping and burning mega calories while you're engaged in intense body conditioning. For All levels.
YOGA FLOW A continuous, flowing sequence of poses, linked together by breath. This class helps to improve your strength, flexibility, and stamina. (Maximum 12 participants)
YOGA/PILATES A combination of principles from yoga and Pilates, a great mind/body class for people of all fitness levels. This class focuses on flexibility, core stability and strength, as well as relaxation techniques.
ZUMBA®
Fuses Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away! The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat!
