Morgana - About us

In just over 35 years since its formation in 1978, Morgana Systems

has grown to become the UK’s leading manufacturer of off-line print

finishing systems and equipment. Morgana is now recognised as a

leading innovator in the develop ment of finishing systems designed

specifically to meet the needs of the rapidly growing digital print

market.

The UK headquarters, based in Milton Keynes, is a 50,000 sq. ft.

facility housing equipment design, manufacturing, electronics

assembly, spare parts distribution and the UK Sales and Service

organ isation. A purpose built showroom and training facility is used

on a daily basis by customers from all over the UK and Europe to

test and evaluate machines.

Over 80% of the products manufactured in Milton Keynes are

exported and sold through our global distribution network. Morgana

has developed a strong presence in all key markets throughout

Europe and Africa and continues to grow with its part ners and

Bookletmakers

BM 60/61 BookletmakerThe BM60/61 Bookletmaker from Morgana is a compact and simple to use machine for booklets of up to 88 pages of 80gsm paper.

The machine comes in two configurations, the BM 60 is for hand feeding only, whilst the BM61 is equipped with a side jogging unit and can be connected to the C/AC 510 collator to give more auto-mation to the booklet making process.

These versatile machines are able to saddle staple and fold up to 22 sheets of paper and can also be used to side staple or corner staple documents. Booklets with loop staples can also be produced by simply changing the stapling head.

Various functions can be engaged or disengaged from the operator panel: manual mode, automatic mode, stapling off, or folding only, or folding off for stapling only. An additional beltstacker can be fitted to the delivery for longer runs of booklets.

Up to 1800 booklets per hour can be produced from this well proven and robust machine. The BM60/61 is a market leader with this entry level product.

Squarefold 104

The Morgana Squarefold 104 adds increased value to your booklets by giving them a professional, perfect bound look with the security of a stapled finish. This revolutionary device can be used as a hand fed unit, attached to the BM60/61 Bookletmaker or linked to a wide range of traditional and digital finishing devices.

Added advantages of square folded books are much less packaging capacity and the ability to print onto the spine of thicker booklets. Booklets from landscape A4 to A6 size can be produced on this ver-satile simple to use machine.

Morgana System 200eThe System 200e is our mid-range automatic booklet making system which offers a flexible solution for digitally printed and litho printed stocks, or the combination of both. The system is fed by our ACF510 feeder, which can feed pre-collated sets from a digital engine and can also feed un-collated sections from a litho press. A common use for this machine is to merge black and white pre-collated insides with colour covers produced on another engine into one finished booklet. The System 200e is supplied with a patented two step fold roller system to give a sharp fold without marking and eliminates the risk of tearing. An optional Squarefold unit can be added to produce PerfectEdge booklets, giving a look of a perfect bound book. The user friendly operator interface activates and adjusts the additional FTR200e and the SQF200e if fitted.

BM200eThe BM200e is a hand fed system where a lower volume of booklet production is required. Offering the same quality of booklet with the same options for trimming and Square folding as the System 200e, this versatile Bookletmaker can produce booklets of up to 120 pages. Pre-collated sets are simply hand fed into the receiving tray, they are then stapled and folded to the size selected on the LCD control panel. The booklets can be trimmed on the lead edge using the optional front edge trimming unit – and can be square folded to give a flat spine booklet. Additionally, this booklet making system can be upgraded as the production demands increase, with the addition of the 510ACF feeder / collator, to give automated booklet production of up to 3000 units per hour.

Morgana System 2000/2000S BookletmakersIn today’s demanding printing environment, a flexible solution to booklet production is a must for all printers. Often there is a need to produce booklets from both digital presses and litho machines, or where covers have been coated or laminated. The required print volume and quality will determine the appropriate printing method and in many cases the finished booklet has been printed on different print engines and thus needs to be merged. Also, prints from digital printers come pre-collated, whereas from an offset press they require sorting or collating. All this is a challenge for the finishing devices in order to keep a good workflow and maintain productivity.

Morgana System AF2000/AF2000S Bookletmaker The System AF2000S with its high capacity dual bin feeder offers a flexible solution for a wide range of booklet types and sizes. The system is fed by the AF602 air assisted feeder which has a loading capacity of up to 540mm, giving long uninterrupted production runs. Pre-collated sets can be placed into both bins for longer runs, or covers can be placed into one of the bins when they need to be merged with collated sets.

The booklet making section can be supplied with heavy duty stitching heads for up to 50,000 stitches from one wire spool, or with stapling heads which can be loaded with 5000 staple cassettes. A fore-edge trimmer comes as standard to give clean finish to the booklets.

An optional Morgana Squarefold can be added to the system to produce squared spine flat books which give the effect of a perfect bound finish.

For full bleed production, the Morgana CST crease and side trim unit can be added. Trim edges can be removed from the sheets mean-ing there is no need to trim the booklets prior to production in an offline guillotine.

DocuMaster Pro The original DocuMaster was produced as a result of a request by one of the Digital Engine Providers. They had just produced a machine that delivered pre-collated sets (including covers of heavier stock) and wanted Morgana to produce a Bookletmaker that could finish them without cracking the book’s spine or the highly visible centre page spread.

The DocuMaster Pro is the fourth generation DocuMaster and has all of the original design attributes. We have added the same SmartScreen module as used by the whole range of Morgana Pro machines and it also benefits from the new PosiFeed feeding system making an already impressive feeder, unbeatable.

Targeted specifically at digital printers, the DocuMaster is a complete finishing system combining feeding, creasing and high quality booklet making. It enables pre-collated booklets or brochures to be finished in one highly automated operation.

Use the DocuMaster Pro as a Bookletmaker, a creaser or a perforator to produce 4pp brochures on heavy card stock, or to give the perfect bound appearance to pre-produced booklets using the optional Square Back, it will happily do them all. Near-line or off-line finishing enables your print engine to operate at maximum speed. This is often not the case when on-line finishers are used.

DocuMaster MFCWith multiple feed stations, the design allows for feeding of specialised covers and booklet inside pages from separate feed bins while still allowing for creasing of cover, centre or all pages of the book. The DocuMaster MFC incorporates the new ‘DYNATILT” creasing system which automatically registers each sheet and adjusts the mechanism to ensure an accurate crease position every time. Creasing of covers, centre spreads or indeed all sheets in the book if needed, is simply programmed into the high definition touch screen control unit. Creasers

ElectroCreaser 36/52Quality blade and matrix creasing, with a price and performance geared to the needs of the smaller printer or inplant.

The semi-automatic ElectroCreaser is the ideal unit for the smaller printer or inplant who need something faster than a manual creaser, such as the Morgana DocuCrease - but cannot justify the cost of a fully automated machine like the AutoCreaser.

It provides 2 creasing widths as standard, - 1.6mm and 1.2mm - with the ability to change from one to another in seconds. It also has a special ‘Super Speed’ stop system, which greatly simplifies jobs that call for multiple creases.

The creasing matrix is electronically activated by a foot switch for increased accuracy and productivity.

We recognise that as companies grow they may need to upgrade their Morgana equipment to more sophisticated or productive machines from within our portfolio. Our guaranteed upgrade path enables them to do this with the minimum of financial commit-ment and with guaranteed buy backs.

DocuCreaser 35/5235cm and 52cm hand creaser designed for small volume applica-tions, the Morgana DocuCrease is a hand operated machine, which has adjustable stops for multi creasing down the sheet.

Like the fully automated Morgana AutoCreaser, the DocuCrease has been designed to overcome the cracking problems encoun-tered when trying to fold material from digital or litho based print engines. The new digital machines often use toner, which will crack on the material, particularly if the grain is running in the wrong direction. The Morgana DocuCrease is the perfect low-cost solution to these problems.

CardXtra PlusThe CardXtra Plus combines all the features of the CardXtra with the addition of a Morgana rule & matrix creasing unit. This allows the production of a much wider range of jobs that need to be folded at some later point. The addition of the creasing blade allows production of a range of applications including folded business cards, tent cards, greetings cards, A4 4pp brochures and much more. The AeroCut Quatro is pre-programmed with over 200 templates, which can be selected from the colour touch screen, for the most common sheet sizes and typical jobs. Thereafter an additional 90 program locations are available for bespoke jobs which can be saved in the alpha numeric memory.

Paper is passed into the machine using a vacuum top belt feeding system. Various adjustments to tray height, length of separation blow and paper work time ensure consistent accurate feeding of a wide range of stocks. The double sheet detection system has a unique retry function whereby if a double sheet is detected; the machine will try to separate the sheets three times before stopping.

The AeroCut Quatro is equipped with an image tracking sensor and can read the image position on the sheet as opposed to working to the sheet edge. This system will overcome slight image drift, and de-liver consistently cut and creased jobs. A straightforward and simple paper path ensures accurate trouble free paper movement through the machine with reliable removal of the waste and edge strips.

The machine comes as standard with a perforation tool and two perforating wheels which can be accurately set using a highly visible scale and micro-adjustment. 510 Feeder/CollatorThe 510 series of feeders/collators are based on a standard 10 station, high capacity bin tower structure with centre registration. Mail Inserting System - PL4000 The 4000 System is a modular mail inserting system, offering maximum flexibility to meet your direct mail demands. The main element of the system is the Plockmatic DMI 4000 Inserter, able to fill up to 12 mm of inserts into envelope sizes from B4 down to DL type. Digital Flexo CutDie cutting can be a complex operation that requires a very stable machine construction to give accurate results and ensure longevity of the cutting dies. The DFC is based on technology used in high speed rotary presses, brought into a sheet fed machine ideally suited to digital and short run die cutting applications. The unique innovation offers various applications such as: Die-cutting, perforat-ing, creasing, embossing & kiss-cutting. All the above functions can be processed on the same flexible die. The principle of the machine is based on a high quality magnetic cylinder, a solid anvil cylinder and a flexible die-cutting form. Mate-rial such as paper, cardboard and some PE-materials up to 450 gsm can be run on the DFC with a maximum speed of 2,000 SRA3 sheets per hour. DigiCoater 33The DigiCoater 33 comes with 3 tanks and 1 coating roller and can be used for UV coating OR priming (HP Indigo stocks) but not for doing both at the same time. 5 Star Cover

This is our fully inclusive contract which offers one or two

preventative maintenance visits per annum, depending on which

machine you have. In addition to the PM visits, all emergency calls

are included in the contract as are all parts (excludes consumable

items or any work required as a consequence of accidental damage

or negligence however caused.). You will also have access to our

Technical Support Hotline which offers technical assistance to

resolve problems from one of our highly skilled technicians.

3 Star Cover

This option gives you one or two preventative maintenance visits per

annum depending on which machine you have. All other emergency

calls will be charged at the current published labour rates, discounted

by 50%. Parts will also have a 50% discount from our published spare

parts price lists.

1 Star Cover

The One Star cover is a contract designed specifically to meet the

Health & Safety requirement of 2 safety inspections per annum on

Guillotines. Any work required as a result of the safety inspection and

any breakdown call will qualify for a 20% discount from our published

non-contract labour rates. Additionally any parts required will also

At the end of the warranty period, customers may choose to

continue a preventative maintenance contract for the product. We

offer three levels of contract – Five Star, Three Star and a One Star

level of cover. Additionally customers may choose to have their

product serviced as and when required.
