Celebrate with us today.
LandscapeUllswater is referred to as England’s
most beautiful lake and for those of
you who have been lucky enough to
visit, it is not hard to see why. The lake
runs a serpentine course in three reaches
with Helvellyn crowning the plateau
at the head of the lake; at 3,117ft it is
England’s third highest mountain. Its
dramatic landscape is shaped by the
three distinctive rock types: the rugged
Borrowdale Volcanics, smoothness of the
Skiddaw Slates and gentler curves of the
Limestone hills.
Romantic InsightThis landscape has inspired poets and
writers for centuries; perhaps one of
the most famous poems in the English
language, ‘The Daff odils’ by William
Wordsworth, was penned after a walk
along the lakeshore near Glencoyne.
These daff odils still frequent the shore
in the springtime. Ullswater was hugely
signifi cant for Wordsworth and his work
here shaped some of the key ideas
behind Romanticism.
Set sail with us and truly celebrate your occasion with a cruise on one of our vessels.
