=New equipment High reliability accelerometer A high-reliability triaxial accelerometer has been introduced by Environmental Equipments. Aimed at mission-critical applications, the Model 1080 has a wide frequency range, and integral electronics provide a low output impedance to allow the use of long cables for remote monitoring. Reliability is achieved by a complex pre-assembly test programme, including extensive stabilization of the piezoelectric crystals, the heart of the transducer. Crystals meeting the company's acceptance specifications are hand assembled and the complete unit subjected to final, rigorous testing. The accelerometer is designed to operate over the range _ 500 g with transverse sensitivity of better than 5%. The operating temperature is from -60°C to +125°C. Mounting is by a single bolt and electrical connection is by a 4 pin Bendix connector which can be fitted with an EMC gasket. The tanks are ruggedly constructed and provide high accuracy and repeatability in motion control. Units incorporate industrial CNC controllers or the Accu-Scan microcomputer controller. They come in various sizes and configurations including lifting turntables, and incorporate automatic chucking to increase overall test speeds. The proximity of the X-ray source to the target and the small spot size setting of 10 #m give radiographers greater direct X-ray magnification for inspection of microelectronics and other small components. The large spot size setting of 45/~m allows for higher power operation for examining more massive objects. The X-ray tube and high voltage power supply are combined in one package. The unit is capable of continuous output at 125 kV with either 10 W of power in the 10/~m spot size, or 62.5 W in the 45/~m spot size. A 28 VDC source can be used, allowing battery operation and greater flexibility for field use.
