in the enrollment process Yoursquoll find all the relevant information and instructions in this guide

Checklist for Incoming Students Submit your $300 enrollment deposit

If you plan to live on campus submit a housing contract along with the $200 housing deposit

Sign up for a required orientation or transfer registration program

Submit final transcripts (high school andor college)

Complete a Transfer College Report for each domestic four-year college or university you have attended

Complete your FAFSA if you havent already done so

Activate your UMass Lowell email account

Pay your tuition balance before the start of classes

Complete and submit health forms via the student portal no later than Aug 1 for fall semester and Jan 1 for the spring semester

Purchase a meal plan if desired (required for some housing locations)

Register with Disability Services if needed Once matriculated please send disability documentation to Disability Services to request accommodations

Apply for a UMass Lowell Student Visa Document (international applicants only) through the International Students amp Scholars Office

Finalize your financial plan before the start of classes

Shortly after submitting your enrollment deposit youll receive login information for your student email account and SiS our online student information system These will become important tools for communication to and from the university In the meantime if you have any questions please feel free to contact the Admissions Office and other offices on campus for help

CAMPUS HOUSING Detailed instructions on how to apply for university housing are included in this brochure For guaranteed housing you should complete the online housing application and pay your housing deposit by May 1 You must also have submitted your enrollment deposit by this deadline More information is available at umledureslife

HEALTH FORMS All required health forms and information about immunization requirements mandated under Massachusetts law are available online at umleduhealth Please refer any questions about health records and immunizations to studentimmunizationsumledu Transfer students must request their health and immunization forms as they do not automatically transfer from your prior collegeuniversity All health forms and immunization records must be completed and submitted via the student health portal

FRESHMAN ORIENTATION Required Freshman Orientation Programs for students entering in the fall take place in the summer Dates and times are posted online at umleduorientation These programs include registering for your first-semester classes The specifics of each program may vary according to the collegeschool in which you are enrolling

TRANSFER REGISTRATION All new transfer students are required to complete the transfer registration process before enrolling in classes Transfer registration can be completed by an Accelerated Registration Program or the traditional on-campus Transfer Registration Day There are multiple sessions available for each major We encourage you to select the earliest date that fits in your schedule at umleduorientation Transfer students are reminded that they must obtain their health and immunization records from their previous institution and submit via the student health portal We do not accept faxed or emailed records Those records must be received within 30 days of the start of classes or you may be delayed in moving into a residence hall andor registering for classes

PLACEMENT TESTING The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education requires all public institutions to assess the skills of incoming freshmen in math and English Placement testing is available to all students online via links provided by the Orientation Office Students are required to complete their placement testing prior to their scheduled orientation Information is available at umleduorientation

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES Students who are eligible for services under the Americans with Disabilities Act should register with Disability Services before the start of classes (or before orientation if you need accommodations during assessment testing) More information is available online at umledustudent-servicesdisability

HEALTH INSURANCE Massachusetts state law requires that all students be enrolled in a health insurance plan that meets the comparable benefits established by the Commonwealth If you have coverage under a comparable benefit plan you may complete the waiver form in your Student Center in SiS after you receive your first invoice for the fall term This form must be submitted every year even if your insurance information has not changed Students who are MassHealth eligible will be enrolled into the university-sponsored plan at no additional cost Students must complete the waiver process according to published UML deadlines typically around Oct 1 each year or they will be charged for insurance If you have questions about university-sponsored health insurance coverage please contact health_insuranceumledu

PARKING ON CAMPUS Any student may bring a car to campus Students who choose to do so must apply for a parking sticker and pay all relevant fees Information about parking and fees is available online at umleduucaps

SUMMER SESSION FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS If you want to get a jump start on the skills that will help you build a strong academic foundation register for a midsummer Strategies for Success program You will receive information at orientation and by mail For more information visit umledustrategies-for-success

HOW TO APPLY FOR CAMPUS HOUSING After submitting an enrollment deposit and receiving login credentials all full- and part-time matriculated students are welcome to apply for campus housing Heres how

COMPLETE YOUR HOUSING APPLICATION AND CONTRACT AND SUBMIT YOUR $200 HOUSING DEPOSIT ONLINE

bull Deadline All first-year and transfer students entering in the fall who submit an enrollment deposit housing contract and housing deposit by May 1 are guaranteed housing for the academic year We anticipate available space for the majority of students who enter the university in the spring semester Although we cannot guarantee housing to students who submit their housing contracts after the deadline we make every effort to house every student who wants housing

bull Process During the online housing application process you will apply for campus housing review the housing contract choose a meal plan and select a Living-Learning Community (if desired) In some cases space is allocated on a first-come first-served basis so donrsquot delay

bull Payment Your $200 housing deposit is an online payment that can be made at the same time as your enrollment deposit If you already paid your enrollment deposit but did not pay your housing deposit you can make a payment at the end of the housing application and contract process All payments are made by credit or debit card We accept Visa Mastercard and Discover Please visit umledureslife

LIVING-LEARNING COMMUNITIES Living-Learning Communities (LLCs) give students the opportunity to explore common interests with other students in their living environment They provide students with the chance to live in an engaged like-minded community of students and fellow scholars Many LLC students experience college in similar ways and LLCs provide support resources and networking opportunities with students staff and faculty at the university LLCs facilitate close interaction with faculty advisors who help students navigate their college experience By living and participating in an LLC students are provided with meaningful opportunities that help them make purposeful links between the academic and co-curricular components of their college experience

BUSINESS INNOVATION Sponsored by the Manning School of Business this community is dedicated to the study advancement and success of future business leaders Students are afforded opportunities to hone their problem-solving networking and leadership skills Open to students enrolled in the Manning School of Business

COMMONWEALTH HONORS Through the pursuit of excellence in undergraduate education this LLC provides enriched academic opportunities to exceptional students who want to take their university experience to the next level This LLC is designed for all students who have been accepted into the Honors College

CREATIVE ARTISTS Whether your passions lie within studio art animation art history graphic design theater creative writing or any other type of art this LLC is designed for all students who are interested in creative expression

DEVELOPING LEADERS IN ENGINEERING Engineered to provide students with a hands-on real-world educational living and learning experience this LLC is for all engineering majors and provides an inside look at career paths of aspiring engineers

TUITION AND BILLING It is strongly recommended that you have your financial plan finalized before the start of each semester as tuition and fees are due before the start of classes UMass Lowell does not provide paper copies of bills You will receive email notification of your first eBill prior to the fall semester Each semester you are enrolled you will receive an email in your UMass Lowell student email account when your new eBill is available to view in your SiS Student Center

FINANCIAL AID AWARD NOTIFICATION Incoming accepted students who complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by the Feb 1 priority deadline and meet all eligibility requirements will receive notification of their awards by the end of March Early Action applicants who have completed their FAFSA will receive their award notification in January Students applying after Feb 1 who meet all eligibility requirements receive aid as funds become available

FINANCIAL AID VERIFICATION Verification is the process to confirm the accuracy of the data reported on the FAFSA If you are selected for verification an initial letter will be mailed to your home requesting required verification documents Any subsequent notifications will be sent to your university email account You may also view missing paperwork on your To Do List in SiS It is your responsibility to submit the required verification documentation as soon as possible

MONTHLY PAYMENT PLANS A 10- eight- or six-month payment plan is offered to students through TMS (Tuition Management Systems) The payment plan enables students and their families to pay the full yearrsquos tuition fees and room and board charges in smaller more affordable payments rather than in a lump sum This is not a loan program and there are no finance or interest charges There is a nonrefundable application fee For more information or to sign up online please visit umasslowellaffordcom

HEALTH INSURANCE Massachusetts state law requires that all students be enrolled in a health insurance plan that meets the comparable benefits established by the Commonwealth If you have coverage under a comparable benefit plan you must complete the waiver form in your Student Center in SiS after you receive your first invoice for the fall term Students who are MassHealth eligible will be enrolled into the university-sponsored plan at no additional cost Students must complete the waiver process according to the published deadline each year or they will be charged for insurance If you have questions about university-sponsored health insurance coverage please contact health_insuranceumledu

USHARE With UShare students may grant parents guardians and family members access to their SiS accounts Students do this from the Student Center within SiS In compliance with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act only students may initiate and assign guest access A student may add or remove guest access at any time Guest access will allow the studentrsquos designee(s) access to areas of the studentrsquos record for which they have been authorized including the eBill and online tuition payment system For more details and information please visit umleduushare
