Monuments to an Elegy marks the iconic alternative band’s eighth studio album and is the follow‐up to their 2012 critically acclaimed album Oceania.

The new album was recorded in Chicago with Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, who’s been in the band since 2007. Playing drums throughout

is Tommy Lee. The album was produced by Howard Willing (who first worked with the Pumpkins on the Adore sessions), Corgan and Schroeder. It was

mixed by David Bottrill and mastered by Howie Weinberg, who did the same honors for Pumpkins classics in the ‘90s. Monuments to an Elegy is ‘an

album within an album,’ part of their ongoing work‐in‐progress Teargarden By Kaleidyscope (with Day For Night as the project’s last work).

Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins have created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history, having sold more than 30

million albums and won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. The pivotal group’s many hits defined the alternative music era and continue to

resonate on modern rock radio, influencing a whole new generation. In June 2012, the band released the critically acclaimed album Oceania, which

debuted at #1 on the Canadian Alternative album chart (#4 Overall); and Rolling Stone hailed it as one of the best albums of the year. Their 1998 album

Adore saw a 107‐track reissue in 2014 and 2000’s Machina/The Machines of God will be reissued in 2015.

Induction

2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Rush’s eponymous debut album in 1974. This superb collector’s box set,

which will be released on November 11, 2014, brings together live performances by Rush from each decade of their career.

It includes “Rush In Rio”, “R30”, “Snakes & Arrows Live”, “Time Machine 2011: Live In Cleveland” and “Clockwork Angels

Tour” plus a bonus disc of previously unseen and unreleased live material stretching from 1974 to 2013.

To the delight of fans, the bonus disc will include all 8 songs from the Laura Secord Secondary School show in 1974 which

features original drummer John Rutsey. That recording includes 2 Rush originals “I’ve Been Runnin;” and “The Loser”, as well

as their cover of Larry William’s “Bad Boy”, made famous by The Beatles. The bonus discus also features 5 songs from songs

from the Capitol Theatre in 1976 such as “Anthem” and “Lakeside Park”, the rarely performed full, 7‐part version of “2112”

filmed in 1997, “Lock and Key” from the Hold Your Fire tour, as well as footage from the glorious evening when Rush fans got

their beloved band inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Rush are renowned for the energy and excitement of their live concerts and this set brings together some of their finest

performances. The 10 DVD (or 6 Blu‐ray) discs are contained in a stunning 52 page hardback book measuring 305mm x

225mm with the 10 discs contained in 5 additional rigid insert pages each holding two discs. The 52 pages of the book are

filled with memorabilia and photographs documenting 40 years of Rush live in concert. This is the ultimate collection of Rush

USM are proud to present Cream: 1966 – 1972, Cream’s studio and live LPs brought together in a boxed set for the first time. Each LP will have exact reproductions of original artwork to retain authenticity, and will be pressed 180 gram heavyweight audiophile vinyl and

contained in a rigid slipcase box. Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup power trio consisting of bassist/singer Jack Bruce, drummer Ginger Baker, and

guitarist/singer Eric Clapton. Their sound was characterised by a hybrid of blues rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock, combining psychedelia‐themed lyrics, Eric Clapton's blues guitar playing, Jack Bruce's operatic voice and prominent bass playing and Ginger Baker's

jazz‐influenced drumming. Cream's music included songs based on traditional blues such as "Crossroads" and "Spoonful", and modern blues such as "Born Under a Bad Sign", as well as more eccentric songs such as "Strange Brew", "Tales of Brave Ulysses" and "Toad", their third album (included in this

Mama Said Knock You Out is a certifiable hip‐hop classic showcasing LL’s return to form that solidified his legendary status in the rap game. The album would go on to sell over two million copies and arguably become the biggest of his career. LL took an active role even in the visuals for the project, suggesting a photo from a Vogue Italy magazine shoot that would inspire the minimalist cover design. Already a rap veteran at the young age of twenty‐two, LL understood the tightrope of fame and street cred that he was walking. While lesser men would have cracked under the pressures of coming of age on wax, L was able to synthesize his growing pains into platinum records. What may have begun as teenage braggadocio on Radio had now matured to the delicate confidence of a grown man facing adversity and taking on life’s challenges head‐on.

Grammy®‐nominated hip‐hop pioneer Warren G (real name: Warren Griffin III) is a Long Beach rapper who formed the legendary group 213 (named

after the city’s area code) with Nate Dogg and Snoop Dogg, who went on to collaborate with step‐brother Dr. Dre on The Chronic (providing the samples

for “Nuthin’ But a G‐Thang”) and contribute the track “Indo Smoke” with Mista Grimm and Nate Dogg to the Poetic Justice soundtrack. After a lively

This nine‐disc box set makes up part two of the definitive collection of the great Memphis soul label Stax/Volt. Focusing on the post‐Atlantic years, 1968 through 1971, Vol. 2 contains all 216 soul singles issued by Stax/Volt during that time period. Featured are some of the biggest and best‐loved hits of the day (Isaac Hayes’ “Theme From Shaft"; The Staple Singers’ “Respect Yourself”; Johnnie Taylor’s “Who’s Making Love”), as well as a number of little‐known gems by both major and less familiar artists. Reissued in a compact and sleek new brick packaging, the collection is presented in a rigid lift‐off lid box, complete with an accompanying, full‐color, comprehensive booklet. The story of the great Memphis soul label, Stax/Volt, can be divided into two distinct eras: the period from 1959 through the beginning of 1968, when the company was distributed by Atlantic and was developing its influential sound and image; and the post‐Atlantic years, from May 1968 through the end of 1975, when Stax/Volt began in earnest its transition from a small, down‐home enterprise to a corporate soul powerhouse. Project overview: ‘Measures’ is the second album from the Nostalgia 77 & The Monster guise, bringing a flavoursome take on

instrumental jazz. The collection of songs sees Ben Lamdin's long time collaborator, bass player and arranger Riaan Vosloo stepping to

the fore, bringing six original compositions. The album also contains nods to the two dominant influences on this group over the years,

in renditions of Sun Ra's otherworldly “An Island In The Sun” and British firebrand (and previous Nostalgia 77 collaborator) Keith

Tippett's “Thoughts To Geoff”.

Nostalgia 77 and the Monster is the second incarnation of the Nostalgia 77 Live band, his original Nostalgia 77 Octet having been

disbanded after the death of drummer Graham Fox. Lamdin and Vosloo’s aim was to produce an album ranging from the chaotic to the

meditative. On ‘Measures’, Vosloo's writing strikes a delicate balance between strong themes and free space for the improvisers ‐ a

perfect canvas for the impressive cast of Kit Downes (piano), James Allsopp (reeds), Fulvio Sigurta (trumpet), Tim Giles (drums) and

Vosloo himself on bass. The record captures the fiery fluidity of the band’s live performances.

A regular name in the music press for more than a decade, Nostalgia 77’s recent work has raised his profile to a new level. February’s

2014’s bluesy ‘A Journey Too Far’ solo LP and September’s intrepid jazz/dub exploration ‘In The Kingdom Of Dub’ (with Prince Fatty)

have been lauded everywhere from The Wire to Clash, Q, DJ Mag, Metro and Blues & Soul, and the latter gave rise to Nostalgia 77’s first

BBC 6Music Playlist for the “Medicine Chest Dub” single. He was recruited to produce long time fan Jamie Cullum's return to Jazz this

The Velvet Underground’s classic, self‐titled third album, released in March 1969, was a departure from the band’s first two

albums in more ways than one. Gone was co‐founding member John Cale, and in his place was 21‐year‐old Doug Yule. The

Universal Music are delighted to announce the release of a limited double vinyl version of Sparks landmark 1974 release, Kimono My House.

Kimono My House was released in May 1974 and is widely regarded as one of the finest Sparks LPs and contained the hit singles ‘This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us’ and the equally superb ‘Amateur Hour.’ What makes this package extra special is its second album: the first release anywhere of seven demo recordings Ron and Russell Mael made in 1973 prior to signing with Island Records. Although a handful of the tracks were later recorded by the band commercially, all seven have never seen the light of day and come from Sparks’ personal archive. This is a true goldmine for a Sparks fan Both albums have been mastered for vinyl by Bill Inglot, and are packaged in a thick‐spined outer sleeve with original inner bag plus new notes from Russell Mael and an essay by Paul Lester.
