Its a fact that there are more computer science jobs available in North America today than there areeducated people to ll them. That means UNB Saint John computer science graduates can expect a
healthy and diversi ed job market.
Our four-year BScCS program will teach you the fundamentals. Youll learn how to design and operatea computer system and understand programming languages, computer hardware, data structures and
algorithms, business information systems and innovative software tools. Youll also develop network and
interface design skills.
You may either complete a regular BScCS, or choose a specialization. UNB Saint Johns BScCS degree, and
all its associated specializations and honours, are fully accredited by the Canadian Information Processing

Our campus is adjacent to New Brunswicks largest health care facility, the Saint John Regional
Hospital the provinces main trauma and heart care centre and medical teaching facility. Youll beginwith introductory classes in the physical and social sciences along with courses geared toward career
development. In your second year youll focus on health specialties such as mental health, young families
and the relationship between bodies and disease. Third year courses concentrate on acute care while
fourth year studies focus on community nursing.
Our students receive valuable real-world experience during clinical care practicums at both the hospital

in the heart of the UNB Saint John community just a short walk to classes, sports and tnessfacilities, the Hans W. Klohn Commons, the Baird Dining Room and Col. Tuckers our student
pub. Our indoor pedway system will keep you connected and also warm and dry when itsraining or snowing outside.
UNB Saint John has two residences. Both buildings are equipped with high-speed Internet
and cable TV connections in each room at no extra cost. The Sir James Dunn Residence offerstraditional on-campus accommodations, with mainly private rooms and full meal plans. The Dr.
Colin B. Mackay Residence offers private, one-person bedrooms with an ensuite kitchenette
and bathroom shared between two rooms. Residences are security-locked, and have common
laundry facilities, TV rooms and study lounges.
Meal plans are arranged using a debit-type card. The Baird Dining Room offers meat and
vegetarian entres, fresh-to-order sandwiches, a grill, all-day breakfast and soups and salads. You can even use your meal card at the Tim Hortons on campus.

If youre a student entering UNB Saint John directly from high school, you will be considered for scholarshipsupport based on your scholarship average.
Your scholarship average is based on the admissions average (the average of the six courses required for
admission) plus bonus points for enriched courses. For the list of courses that UNB uses in calculating yourscholarship average, please refer to the chart on p. 39.
The higher your marks, the better chance you have at getting a higher-value scholarship. To help your

The admission average is the average of thecourses required for admission. For thosestudents who have required courses that arebeing taken in the second semester of highschool, and for which grades are not yet available,the pre-requisite course (usually grade 11) will beapplied to make a grade estimate for the speci cadmission course.

grades of 3, 4 and 5 on acceptable courses.International Baccalaureate (IB)Students following the InternationalBaccalaureate program at the Higher Level mayhave their courses evaluated for up to 30 credithours (approximately 10 courses) of transfercredits. UNB Saint John will consider grades of 5,6 and 7 on acceptable courses.

transfer students If you have enrolled in any post-secondaryinstitution other than UNB, we will alsorequire of cial copies of transcripts fromthose institutions. The minimum admissionrequirements are still applicable for basicadmission. If you have received credit from anypost-secondary institutions, you may be granted
credit dependent on the degree to which youare applying, at the discretion of the Of ce of the Registrar and the Faculty. To request transfercredits, you must supply course outlines for all
courses typically these course outlines may beobtained through the Of ce of the Registrar orthe Faculty at the previous institution. Studentsapplying through an approved block credittransfer program (BAM, BAMAC, BAMEC, BAMHT)are waived from this step, but must supply of cialtranscripts.

Bachelor of Education (BEd)Students must have a minimum of 30 credit hoursin the Bachelor of Arts degree in order to be
considered for admission to the BEd degree. Thedeadline for applications is January 31 of the yearin which the student wants to commence studies(i.e. January 2012 for September 2012 entrance).Additional forms are required and can be obtainedfrom the Department of Education at UNB Saint John.
