Hello and welcome to the UNC-Chapel Hill Music Department’s 2013–2014 season! This brochure includes a monthly listing of events, with all major ensemble and festival series listed separately for easy reference. You’ll find information on this year’s William S. Newman Artists Series, Carolina Jazz Festival, Carolina Symposia in Music and Culture, Festival on the Hill, Talking Music Series, and other special events.

In addition to the performances listed, there will be many student recitals, lectures, masterclasses, and other performances presented during the academic year. Due to space constraints, we cannot always include as much detail as we’d like. Please visit our online calendar at music.unc.edu for updates and details, or contact the Music Department office at (919) 962-1039.

All concert locations are specified in the calendar. Many concerts offered by the Department of Music are free, but

programs that charge an admission fee are clearly marked in this brochure. Please always note the specific starting time and ticketing information for each individual concert.

• As a general rule, all evening concerts held Sunday through Thursday begin at 7:30 pm. Friday and Saturday concerts typically begin at 8:00 pm.

• Individual tickets for concerts in Memorial Hall are sold at the door, or through the Memorial Hall box office at (919) 843-3333. Tickets for concerts in Hill Hall Auditorium are available at the door.
