• Jordan imports 96% of energy in 4.9 million tons of oil equivalent (TOE) [2007]

• Valued at 24% of total imports

• Equivalent to 20% of gross domestic product (GDP) and 56% of total exports

• Water currently consumed at over 2X the long-term renewable supply from aquifers and Disi

• The energy sector alone generates 13.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually
