d) 12.1.0.1 (without bp1 patches) à 12.1.0.2 bp1 is not mandatory

Upgrade Path
§ Upgrading from 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.2 is an EM upgrade with downtime
§ Upgrade options supported : 1-System only
§ Upgrade to 12c Release 2 (12.1.0.2) is an out-of-place upgrade
§ High level steps: Step 1: Bring down your 12.1.0.1 OMS and invoke EM 12.1.0.2 runInstaller
Step 2: Upgrade your OMS and repository (Use1-system option in Installer)
Step 3: You will get Agent upgrade console ( AUC) in the EM 12.1.0.2 console
Step 4: Use AUC to upgrade your 12.1.0.1 agents to 12.1.0.2

Upgrade Path
§ Plug-ins installed in 12.1.0.1 EM will be Upgraded when newer version of plug-in exists during upgrade
§ New Plug-ins will be installed by default if any of the plug-ins that will be upgraded has a dependency.
§ User can select new plug-ins for deployment during OMS upgrade.

Step 1 § Make sure that you take backup of your EM 12.1.0.1 OMS home, software
library, central inventory and repository
§ Download the EM 12.1.0.2 binaries from OTN and invoke the runInstaller on the host where you have EM 12.1.0.1
§ Shutdown your 12.1.0.1 OMS by running the command: $<OMS_HOME>/bin/emctl stop oms -all
Note: if you don’t shutdown OMS, the installer will prompt you to stop it in further screens

§ Uncheck the option “I Wish to receive security update” and click Next

Step 3 § It is recommended that you search for the updates. Provide the
username/password and click Search for updates
§ If there any updates available then apply the updates and click Next

Step 4 § Execute the system specific pre-requisites. Once all of them are
successfully click next . Don't ignore any failure or warning

Step 5 § Select “Upgrade an existing Enterprise manager system ” and select the existing OMS home,
click Next . Note select 1-system upgrade option, if you choose 2-system then installer will give you a pop up message in the forthcoming screens

Step 6 § Upgrade to 12c Release 2 (12.1.0.2) is an out-of-place upgrade, therefore you must either
select an existing middleware home (where Enterprise Manager is not already installed) or enter a new middleware home where Oracle WebLogic Server and Java Development Kit are installed.

Step 7 § Provide the passwords for the SYS and SYSMAN user accounts of
the database that houses the Management Repository for the selected OMS

Step 8 § Installer will throw warning, error if the existing database doesn’t meet the requirements. In EM 12.1.0.2 the installer also has the ability to fix some of these error.

§ Plugins upgraded to new version as a part of EM upgrade
§ Plugins for which newer version are not available, will be migrated from old EM 12.1.0.1 to EM 12.1.0.2

Step 10 § Select the optional plug-ins you want to deploy in addition to the plug-
ins that will automatically be upgraded while upgrading the OMS.

Agent Upgrade console (AUC)
§ Agent Upgrade console is single-window solution to mass-upgrade
your existing agents across platform
§ Make sure that agent software is downloaded using self update
§ Upgrade an Agent from 12.1.0.1 to 12.1.0.2
§ All deployed plugins on 12.1.0.1 agent will be upgraded
§ Central agent ( default agent with OMS) is also upgraded using AUC

§ The new Management Agent software is not present in Oracle Software Library
