Understanding Stun Gun VoltageDon’t fall victim to marketing claims while trying to arm yourself.

HISTORY OF VOLTAGE CLAIMS• Since the introduction of consumer model stun guns, brands have been provided voltage information from

their factory partners for marketing purposes• In the last 5-7 years, many brands have ignored what their factory partners have provided and come up with

their own numbers in an attempt to gain market share

THE PROBLEM• Police model Tasers are rated at 50,000 volts – If that is good enough for law enforcement, what makes us

think a consumer model could be 10, 30, 50 or even 100 million volts?• Through testing by independent 3rd party laboratories, Damsel in Defense has determined that measuring

voltage accurately is not something that can be done reliably, nor is voltage the indicator of how a stun gunwill affect someone, rather amperage is – this means even factory provided voltage information will nottruly describe what a stun gun is capable of, but even if it was, it cannot be reliably verified

• We believe government agencies (specifically the FTC) will soon scrutinize and then regulate the stun gunindustry because of the false claims being made – because we are being proactive, we will be ready

DAMSEL IN DEFENSE’S COMMITMENT TO CHANGING THE INDUSTRY FOR THE CONSUMER• Damsel in Defense has partnered with a global organization that certifies products based on quality and

standards that can be measured – amperage will be the new power measurement because it can beverified, along with many other tests that will determine overall quality and durability – we expect thisprocess to be complete by early to mid-2017 and all certifications will be made available publicly at that time

• Damsel in Defense has become one of the nation’s largest stun gun brands and we are receiving muchattention from the media and public in general because of that. We are a company that operates withhonesty and integrity - this shift away from voltage claims is directly reflective of our values and is to ensurethe continuation of attention received is for positive reasonsonly. We are not going to be like the other companies that endup with a bad reputation because they now know voltage isexaggerated and meaningless, yet still decide to continue indeceptive practices

Stun Gun Voltage Claim FAQsIf voltage claims can’t be accurately tracked, how can I be sure the stun gun I bought last year is powerful? The stun gun I previously purchased had voltage listed but now you’re telling me you can’t track it? The stun guns we sold prior to removing voltage claims and today are equally powerful. The quality and effectiveness hasn’t changed. Even though we have been provided with voltage measurements from manufacturers, we are choosing to remove those numbers from marketing materials because we know voltage has nothing to do with the end result of whether or not a stun gun is powerful or effective. If Damsel can’t track voltage accurately then how come they can track the voltage in tasers? If they can do it why can’t Damsel? At this point, we are not confident that anything can be accurately measured for voltage. We do know they are effective because of the amperage running through them, however. Once Damsel in Defense has completed all certifications, we will publish the certified amperage. What does “companies come up with their own numbers” mean? The stun gun industry has become highly competitive over the last several years. As with any industry, there are bad apples. Those bad apples are inflating numbers to gain market share. A large number on a package or a blatantly inflated voltage claim will temporarily give positive results. Damsel in Defense does business honestly and with integrity. We refuse to knowingly make any false claims. So what is amperage then? If that is what matters then what is it exactly? Simply put, amperage is the amount of electricity flowing. This is why amperage determines the effectiveness of a stun gun. The more electricity, the more effect it has on the person being electrocuted. Voltage is simply how much electricity could flow. If the capacity (voltage) is high, but the electricity flowing (amperage) is low, it doesn’t matter what the capacity (voltage) is because the flow (amperage) is low. Stun guns are a non-lethal self-defense device. For that reason, they must be low enough in amperage to defend against an attacker without killing them. There are many other stun guns online that all show voltage. Damsel is the only company not doing it anymore. So why aren’t other companies doing this either? Everyone has different motives. At Damsel in Defense we value honesty over making a sale we cannot feel good about. We also value the opportunity to have long lasting relationships with our customers and that may not be the main focus for other companies.

What else can you tell me about the independent testing lab and Damsel’s partnership? We are working with a global organization that sets standards and certifications for some of the most well-known companies in the world. We will disclose their information once the process is complete, but we cannot jeopardize the process by making it public until then. Why did Damsel claim voltage for so long and now we are just supposed to change it? Damsel in Defense relied on our factory partners for stun gun specifications and information for several years. As we have grown and become more experienced, we have realized voltage doesn’t mean anything and has become a major problem in the industry due to bogus claims. As a company that has developed into a leader, we decided it was time to lead the industry to provide better and more accurate details about stun guns.
