The registration/application fee for the “Mares Underwater Photo
Marathon" contest is 30,-€,
and for all the competitors from Croatian is free (1 set). After
the jury assesses the work, the official
results of the competition will be published on the website

All materials should be uploaded through the
http://www.uwphotomarathon.com/ website until May
15th 2021 at 23:59:59. In case of technical issues, please send the
materials with the filled registration
form to

“Underwater Photo Marathon 2021”
(all candidates are obliged to fill the registration form with full
name, address, T-shirt size, e-mail
address and camera type – DSLR or compact when submitting their
photographs).
Competition is open from April 10th, 2021 until May 15th, 2021. All
photos sent after this period will
not be taken into consideration.

COMPETITION RULES - PHOTO
1. The competition is open for two types of camera: DSLR and
compact.
All hybrid cameras with interchangeable lenses goes into DSLR
category.
2. Except the international part of competition there will be a
Croatian competition where only
competitors from the Republic of Croatia will be judged in the
so-called “MARES UWPM 2021 -
National Championship Croatia”.
3. The competition is open for underwater photographers using
digital cameras with or without
underwater housing, regardless of the equipment they use.
4. All submitted photos must have been taken by the entrant.
5. Only photos that have not already been awarded at this or
similar events can be submitted.
6. All photos should not be older than 3 years ie. to be
photographed after the date of 10th April 2018.
7. All photos must be sent in JPEG format and can be in black and
white or color.
8. Only one photo is permitted per author per competition category
and can be submitted into both
camera categories – DSLR and compact. If the competitor enters
photos in both categories (DSLR and
compact), in that case registration fees for both categories have
to be paid.
9. Limited post-processing is allowed (Photoshop, Picasa etc.), in
terms of correcting levels, curves,
saturation, color, contrast and cleaning with tools such as Clone
Stamp Tool. Photo overlapping
and/or double exposure is allowed, but frames and copyrights
(signature) are not allowed. Cropping
is allowed up to 20% of the original photo size.
10. Minimal size of the photograph in the longest dimension is 2000
pixels. Maximum size of photo 3MB.
11. A candidate must have the original photo (preferably in RAW
format), which they must send to the
organizer if requested.
12. All photos must have EXIF information available (Exchangeable
Image File Format), which contain
details about the type of camera used and the date when the photo
has been taken.
13. All photos have to be taken in a natural underwater
environment. “Under-overs” or “Half & half’s“
photos are allowed, as long as the underwater part is at least 50%
of the photo.
14. “Fashion and Creativity” category may combine underwater and
land components, as long as the
underwater part takes up over 50% of the photo. Photos taken in
pools and other bodies of water
with the use of various props and/or installations will also be
accepted in this category.
15. All photos not meeting listed criteria will be
disqualified.
16. Photographers keep the copyrights to their photos.
17. The organizer (Diving Club “Roniti se mora”) will display and
introduce the best 50 photos at the
exhibition, and reserves the right to publish the photos in print
and / or Web editions with the
publication of the author’s name.
18. The organizer will display the best 50 photos at Underwater
Photo Marathon exhibition, after which
will be presented as required by other sponsors.
19. The registration fee for the competition is 30,-€ and payment
is made through PayPal service or by
Bank transfer, and for all the competitors from the Croatian
registration fee is free (1 set). (One set
of photos includes one photo for each category.)
20. You can enter the competition with a maximum 5 sets of
photographs. From 1 set of photographs
one photo enters in each category. The registration fee for 1 set
is 30,-€, for 2 sets 55,-€, for 3 sets
80,-€, for 4 sets 100,-€ and for 5 sets 120,-€.
21. For each set of photographs, additional registration is
required with a new email address. Other
competitor data can remain the same.
22. The overall winner of the 9th MARES UWPM is determined by the
sum of points of the best 4 photos
in one (1) set.
23. Wrecks do not enter the category Ambient with or without model
but these photos will have to be
entered in the category (Wrecks).
24. Fish or any fish details like eye or fin does not qualify as a
macro photo.
JURY
The jury comprised of six members will judge the photos upon
submissions deadline. The jury’s
decision is final, no appeals are allowed.
AWARDS
The organizer is obliged to present awards in every category for
the first three places, and an overall
winner, as well as the award for the Best of show. The awards
ceremony is the subject of further
decisions of the Organizer. All competition winners will be
informed via e–mail and web site
http://www.uwphotomarathon.com/. In case that a winning author is
not able to attend the
exposition opening and the award ceremony, their award can be
claimed up to 30 days after the
exhibition opening of the Mares Underwater Photo Marathon or can be
shipped to their address at
their own cost.

RULES & REGULATIONS - VIDEO
1. Final deadline for submitting videos is May 15th, 2021.
2. Any single VIDEO clip must be minimum 30 seconds and maximum 200
seconds in duration.
At least 70% of the video must be shot underwater. Half-half shots
will not be counted as underwater
shots. Maximum Video size can be 300MB (MP4 file).
3. The theme of the video clip is open and can be set according to
the author’s choice.
4. One author is entitled to submit a maximum of 5 (five) videos to
the Contest.
5. Entry fees for Video submissions are:
o 30,-€ for 1 (one) video;
o 55,-€ for 2 (two) videos;
o 80,-€ for 3 (three) videos;
o 100,-€ for 4 (four) videos;
o 120,-€ for 5 (five) videos.
o For Croatian competitors entry is free of charge only for 1 (one)
video.
6. Videos must not be taken in aquariums, or of captive animals in
any situation. If the judges assume the
animal has been distressed or moved from its natural habitat, the
video in question shall be disqualified.
7. Video clips submitted may include a soundtrack, headings,
titles, credits, textual elements (such as
acknowledgements and the names of the authors), graphics,
voice-overs, narrations and dialogues, and
other features. All elements will be accounted as part of the
maximum video duration and will be counted
towards the non-underwater shots (max. 30% of total video).
8. It is forbidden to make any kind of barter arrangement between
authors, such as to submit videos in
one's own name but which another videographer has taken. The
competition is conducted individually
and rules of ethics must be adhered to.
USE OF VIDEO CLIP MATERIALS
1. By enrolling the competition, participants agree that the
submitted videos may be used or reproduced
for the media coverage of this event and for the promotion of
future competitions in all media channels,
including Internet, YouTube, TV.
2. Submitted material shall indefinitely remain in the UWPM
archives without the requirement of further
permission for usage.
3. Video credits will be given to the author when applicable.
4. Submission of material and participation in the competition
entails an automatic acceptance of all of the
above.
5. Use of videos as described above will require no additional
written or verbal permissions from the author.
COPYRIGHT
I hereby declare that I'm the rightful owner of all copyrights to
the aforementioned video submitted to the
Mares UWPM competition. This video/image was produced by me and my
production team, including the
featured soundtrack for which I've purchased the rights to use (or
are royalty free), and I own the rights to
sell, distribute, rent or broadcast it in any way or form,
including private, public and commercial use, on social
networks, TV channels and anywhere in the world.
I hereby grant the Mares UWPM production team with the right to use
this video submitted to the
competition for the purpose of promoting and marketing the
competition in any form found appropriate by
the production.
I declare that I will be liable for any damage, loss or expense
incurred by use of these materials in contrary
to my aforementioned declaration.
Signing the official competition registration form, states the
author’s agreement to the rules stated above.
JURY

is final, no appeals are allowed.

for the first three places. The awards
ceremony is the subject of further decisions of the Organizer. All

can be claimed up to 30 days after the
exhibition opening of the Mares Underwater Photo Marathon or can be
